I noticed a slight reduction when using the actual c.c of my bike -1,261 rather than the number designated by Honda - 1300.

Maybe this makes the bike fall out of the category used for Hayabusas etc?

Medical is good to have. During my recent mc acc. the first thing the hosp. wanted to know was if I had med. coverage on my Valk. I didn't but my medicare supplement did pay their part. For the cost it's worth having.

Wouldn't I be covered by my health insurance?

Yes, it would be covered by your health insurance for you if injured while riding your cycle.  I see no need on medical payments if ONLY YOU and no one other is on your bike outside your immediate family if your family has decent health insurance.  Medical payments is over 1/3 of the total cost of most policies I have seen, thus I do not have it on my cycle nor scooter.

I find geographic locations makes a huge difference.  I have exact same coverage but 100/300/100 with Allstate with just 1K in accessories and only paying 110 bucks per year for my Valkyrie.  My 249cc scooter sucks though is 100 bucks per year, only about 10 bucks difference is all.  Allstate says the minimum cost is around 89 bucks per year for premiums and they say scooters are involved in a ton more accidents than bigger cycles.

I also do not have multiple policy on my cycle with no other cars nor house with them, just scooter and cycle.  Allstate, for me, is the cheapest, but thanks for the heads up since always pays to check around as I do every 2-3 years.  I have NEVER used my home nor cycle nor scooter nor 3 vehicles insured EVER in over 20+ years, so I always go with the cheapest insurer.

I have liberty mutual insurance for my 3 vehicles insured 500K full coverage and is around 230 bucks every 6 months PER vehicle and that includes a teenage driver added recently.  It was under 200 bucks per each of 3 vehicles before the teenage driver added 6 months ago.

I have a separate mutual insurance for my home since liberty mutual and allstate were higher on house premiums for some odd reason.

I have the same basic coverage through Allstate, and the Valkyrie is $215.00 per year. But I have 3 other vehicles on the policy, 2500 Dodge ram, Pt Cruiser and my toy hauler. Local agent gives a great discount for multiple vehicles. They were the cheapest I found for all the vehicles.

Whatever insurance you have, don't forget to get credits for (your old) age, touring bike (all Valks), completion of MSF, garaged, or any others you may qualify.  Some of the nitwits on the phone don't know or don't care, and if you don't ask, you don't get them.
