Big Al is going to Death Valley in May ( Smiley.  The question came up about gas prices in and near the Park.  I did not get the price of gas at Stovepipe Wells, but I did get a few other prices as listed below.  Of course the prices can change very quickly.

Panamint Springs (in the Park): $4.98/gal for regular  Cheesy (No, that is not a mistake.)
Furnace Creek (in the Park): $3.98/gal for regular
Beatty, Nevada (East side of Park): $2.39/gal for regular
Pearsonville, CA (South of the route 190 entrance to the Park): $2.69/gal for regular

Death Valley is a huge park.  It is several million acres.  Just riding from Beatty, NV to some of the points of interest on Saturday I put almost 200 miles on my bike.  I went to the Visitor Center in Furnace Creek, the Painter's Drive, Badwater, then back to Furnace Creek for lunch, then to Dante's View, then back to Beatty.  I was riding my Gold Wing, so I can easily get 200 miles from a tank, so I did not have to buy gas in the Park.

The Motel 6 in Beatty is very spartan, but clean if you want to avoid the higher prices for lodging in the Park.

Al -

At Furnace Creek Resort, there is a Buffet and a Cafe.  We ate in the Cafe, and the food was not really that good, but you would have to travel a lot of miles to go someplace else if you are going to Badwater.
