I've got 5 dogs, and that crap tore them up. Had to take them off of it, and put them on Purina One Lam and Rice. No problems since, and they eat every morsel 2X/day. Not sure what was in it, but dogs could not eat it.

Purina is generally crap food anyway...pretty much across the board. Full of grain used as fillers. Which subject many dogs to skin problems due to an allergic reaction. There are some allegations that the food in question also contained Propylene Glycol. Highly poisonous.

When I had my german shepherd when I lived in Texas I went to the feed store and on the managers suggestion I fed my shepherd the cheapest food he had. My dog thrived on it and I can't recall the name of it. 50 Lb bags as I recollect. RIDE SAFE.

My dogs get the food from the local feed store. 15 bucks for 50 pounds. Might seem cheap but it is actually a lot better than most of the name brand stuff. Has no fillers and list chicken as the first ingredient. Use to feed Eukanuba but was going broke  have used the above food mentioned once and it tore our dogs up. We recently started one of our labs on dinovite to see if it will help with his scratching and ear infections. Seems he is always getting ear infections. We will see |

Could easily be food allergies causing the scratching if there are any grains such as corn or wheat in the food. The ears could be yeast infections from the high carbs in many commercially produced foods. Potatoes, sweet potatoes....etc. Those starchy additives turn immediately to sugar which in turn feeds the rapid growth of yeast bacteria. Most common spots for yeast infections are the feet and ears.

Blue Buffalo is quality food. Grains just are not compatible dogs. They require high protein and high moisture. The ideal diet for most dogs is a prey diet of raw meats, organs and bone. Ours get a varied diet with raw ground whole beef or buffalo including organs and bone, green tripe, premium canned, salmon/coconut oil, and a daily vitamin supplement. We also throw in veggies, fruits, eggs, yogurt and a probiotic. Bull breeds seem to be more susceptible to allergies from grains and chicken. The groups that rate dog foods determined a long time ago that Beneful is the WORST commercial dog food out there.
I disagree in that I consider one other food to be worse -- every dog I ever fed it to died of cancer but one, he had a stroke when he was 5. Those that were never fed that food have NOT been diagnosed with cancer.
No proof, but I stick with my decision to avoid that line of foods.

My dogs have gotten nothing but human food since they were puppies. AKA, I don't feed them anything that I wouldn't eat. A seven year old Basset Hound, a two year old Boxer and a fourteen year old Golden retriever. According to our vet, they are all extremely healthy.

Been raising hunting dogs most of my adult life and Purina is my food of choice, I am in the "Pro Plan" and feed according to the activities each individual is involved in. The more activity the higher the protein. I have never fed Beneful but have nothing but good to say about Purina Pro Plan products.
When it comes to dog food it is about the quality of the ingredients and I believe Purina uses top quality stuff to produce their food.
So for me the proof is in the pudding, my dogs through the years have done very well on it it both performance in competition, actual hunting in the field and health wise.

Propylene Glycol is not toxic or poisonous. It is found in soda, ice cream, and many other foodstuffs. You may be thinking of Ethylene Glycol which is indeed poisonous to animals and humans alike. |

Wonder if it was "Ol Roy" that I use to feed my Dobermans back in the day. They ate that stuff up like it was good and both lived a long healthy life. Now my wife feed "our dogs" the "Nature's Domain" stuff from Costco. Supposed to be good for them and it's reasonably priced, so I'm not bitching. |

We get our raw food from www.mypetcarnivore.com. Great prices and it's delivered in deli containers so there is less fuss and mess. |
