Do Your Best and Miss the Rest!

Many might not have ever noticed but buried on our VRCC Home Page under the category "FUN STUFF" is a link to BBS Classics.

Folks, most of these are from way back in the early VRCC days. It would be worth your while to check some out at your leisure.

Back in the day on the old board, I was known to have a go round or two with a particular fellow member of the VRCC whom I had never met. Politically, we didn't see eye to eye--at that time.
He was also known to create a few waves with others. He went by the handle of Varmint. One could say he was like a Maytag----always agitating!
One particular Inzane, I believe it was Inzane II or III in Zanesville, I made it a point to seek him out and meet him. In person, we didn't seem to have the animosities that we had towards one another on the VRCC. We got along very well and I'm proud to say we were pretty good friends after that and very respectful of each other.
I believe Varmint sold his bike a few years back and no longer frequents the board.  But his article titled "Varmint's Piece of Advice" really hits home with why many of us ride and echoes my thoughts.

Please take the time to read some of these Classics. They are some of the best that Staff thought were too good not to hold in a special place.

This link will take you directly there.

Brian, you're not derailing anything. That is so cool to read your post from way back and then see the results of your wishes, hopes, gifts! You have a beautiful family!! I'm with you in having to go back and read more of them. Thanks for chiming in!

thanks for that, I always enjoyed reading BHM's pieces and 'midnight in the garden of asphalt and road paint' is a fine example of his prose!  Cool cooldude

Loved the old story by RJ and how his wife took away all the keys, door openers, etc.

To derail your derail:

This is the year I'm taking my soon-to-be-thirteen-year-old daughter to Inzane.  I am REALLY looking forward to the daddy-daughter time.  We'll be connected by intercom so she can't escape my observations, stories, advice, and bad jokes!  Any chance you'll be there with your oldest?

Meathead, you're welcome....and John, I have to agree, RJ'S stories (you have to read both of them) were hilarious!

I really REALLY wish I could, was once again trying to figure out how I was gonna swing it to finally make Inzane, but the spousal unit lost her job last month, which pretty much knocks me out for anything big or fun until she finds a new one... (Which, that situation is highly ironic if you re-read my link from 2001, since now she was making more than I am, and I still (*Knock on wood*) have my job but she's lost hers.)
