Always was and always will be. I like the older Country better than the new singers that can't rhyme or cary a tune.

Yep, I was 14 in 68 when the Folsom Prison album came out.

My Mom bought it and just about wore out the record player.

She loved him and gave me a great appreciation.

My parents were such fans that they took the whole family to see Folsom prison. They must have had a gift shop that sold stuff that inmates made. My Mom bought a purse made out of cigarette packs folded in little square and braided together . That's the only thing that stuck with me about the place, very good workmanship. As far as Johnny Cash's music it's about the only country music I can take. The rest of it gives me a headache.

2funny Let me amend my story: The purse was for her. I don't think she has it anymore, last time I remember seeing it was 40 years or more back.

Johnny Cash was a true stud in the music world.  I have a couple of his CDs digitized in my riding tunes playlist.

Over 40 years ago we went to one of his concerts.  I believe it was the Oak Ridge Boys that was his opening act. While they were playing Cash came out on stage and started giving everyone hell. Apparently he thought the crowd was being rowdy, it wasn't. Folks were still trying to settle in but there no problem with what everyone was doing, especially compared to concerts today.
He was way out of line and appeared to be drunk or high and just continued his rant.
I've tried never to listen to him since.
