Hail certainly gets your full attention. I've flown thru hail and a 4-5 cat T-storm.  The planes all carry those little dings and dents to this day. Nothing like that story though.

Yep.

I'm still trying to get my brain to "see" how hail makes a near perfectr concave shape on the nose of the plane.

It almost looks like the plane rear ended another plane.

I'm still trying to get my brain to "see" how hail makes a near perfectr concave shape on the nose of the plane.

It almost looks like the plane rear ended another plane.

The radome is composite.  Hail weakens the structure then the air pressure pushes it in.  I've seen them do that if the plies weren't properly cooked during repair.
