I get a big kick out of people that think American cars are all made in America. That's true, if you count Mexico. My Mazda Six has a sticker on the window proclaiming union made. . It came from the factory like that. That has stopped more than one of my union friends,

Yep, me too. Just can't convince some folks that there is no such thing as an American car today. A good many 'foreign' vehicles are more American.
My liberal labor union official neighbor would not believe that his Sebring was a 'foreign' car. He denied it for several years until I opened the drivers door and showed him. I shouldn't have done that. He immediately traded it off for what he thinks is a union made all American car. I'm keeping my mouth shut.

Claim is that the new Civic is designed, engineered, and developed in the U.S. Will move or has moved production to Indiana, where they will produce Civic's only. Marysville still makes Accord, East Liberty, O. still make other Honda's. A lot of them are exported to Japan.

The Indiana Honda plant is only 30 miles from me. Had buddies that worked on that project when it was being built and the things they implemented to make it a more "green" factory is pretty cool.

You mean like the one sitting behind my Valk ? Its a year newer than the roadster in your picture. I'm not sure what year the ' T ' in your pic is but its fairly earlier as its still brass. Problem today is that many of the parts on these old critters today are made overseas somewhere.

Back in 2007, the newly designed first of it's kind 6 speed tranny Toyota Tundra all models mfgd. in one huge San Antonio Texas facility had the most American made parts of all the Big 3 1/2 ton trucks. Took a lot of B.S. from all the loyal GM and Ford pickup owners around town for buying what they thought was 'jap crap'. I think they are just jealous and still are here in 2015. I think now in 2014 the Ford F150 and tundra are neck and neck with U.S. built parts on them both over 70%. Good for Honda Civic/Accord as far as I am concerned employing more Americans than any other vehicle mfg.. Not my cup of tea being the Civic/Accord, but to each their own. People who bash vehicles just because of the Honda/Toyota/Hyundai/Kia, etc. etc., name are a bunch of idiots who are missing out on a lot of great products. I think even the new Mazda CX-5 is a very good fuel efficient small SUV that gets great mpg with good looks for the price paid, but the seats are not comfy for me to consider purchasing it. Not so sure Mazda is still owned by Ford or not though? It use to be a merger. I say buy what you want, but don't whine when it breaks down or depreciation/resale sucks big time just because you just had to buy so-called American Big 3 (ford,gm,dodge) vehicles. Tonight I was at a Ford dealer for one of their promotions giving away free stuff. I sat in a comparable Ford f150 ext. cab similar to my toyota tundra double cab just for giggles. msrp of ford f150 was 46K, my tundra apples to apples was around 36K. NO brainer for me to get the tundra even with 3-4 grand more in rebates on the ford. Salesman gave me a pitch that the tundra now gets the worst avg mpg of all 1/2 ton trucks. I said maybe so by 1-2 less mpg is all in REAL world driving conditions, but wanna bet my tundra has better resale/trade in. Salesman totally agreed pipped him down big time. What truck owner cares if a 30K on up 1/2 ton truck gets say 17 vs. 19 avg mpg in real world driving??? What I have my eyes on considering next (just wish diesel price was more in line with e10 gas price) is the new ecodiesel V6 in the Dodge Ram pickup. Real world testing has it at 29 hwy mpg with most achieving that and in town over 20 avg mpg. Most gas engines 1/2 ton trucks are 13/15 city and 17/20 hwy. Now, a 2 more avg mpg is not much comparing gas vs gas mfg. trucks, but 8-10 avg mpg adds up in a big hurry but then again, the diesel cost takes away from the gas savings in better mpg.

Wow cookiedough. Those are impressive numbers. May be time to start looking. I sold my 24 Grady so I really do not need the tow capacity of the duramax anymore and that only gets around 15-17 around town or on hwy.

A good friend of mine owns a performance shop for diesels, mainly works on Fords but will do any diesel. he got my other friends f-250 to get 26 mpg in town and 30 on highway. He sid he could do better but would cost another 10 grand just in parts. Oh, did I mention this truck is pushing 700 HP?

I sure wish he was local to me. I don't care about the HP, but I sure could use the extra fuel mileage. I sold the boat last month so now the biggest thing I haul is the dogs. I should probably look at selling the diesel and getting a smaller gasser, but I do love the power when I need it.

Hoser, we have to give you a "Pass" on the Honda 70 cc. Only the biggest selling m/c in the world! At least it's not a poser.

Is it 4wd? Does it have the 2K upgraded ecoboost twin turbo V6 or 5.0L V8? A guy at work has a 2014 ecoboost V6 in his Ford f150 but is 4wd and he says the rated 21 hwy. is B.S. since he only gets on hwy. in normal warmer temps around 18/19. I was talking 4wd pickups since if 2wd they do get around 2 more mpg on average. That f150 ext. cab costing 40K seems about right since at the ford dealership last night msrp was 46K with 4K rebate then another 2K off msrp is about 40K purchase price. As long as you are happy and loving it, that is all that matters.

This topic has taken on a life of its own, as usual.
I think the original point was that a 'foreign' maker now is the most 'American' vehicle. It appears others are catching up to do the same.

My '07 Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins Diesel is made in… Mexico! (I think Dodge is now owned by Fiat.) My company's '03 Chevy C5500 with the Duramax 310hp Diesel is made in… Mexico! (The transmission is British made.) Here's the Chevy on the set of HGTV's "Fixer Upper". The Dodge with our American made generator -- the engine is a British made Lister Petter Diesel -- on the set of a Chuck E. Cheese's commercial. I guess this makes my company international!
