Mom would say , It means you are planning on comming back. I was drafted in 1966 and as I was leaving ,mom asked if I made my bed. Yes mom I made my bed. She said  "then I know you are comming back. I left and after I was inducted , I enlisted so I could get a school. I am here so I came back. To this day , I make my bed. It may not be perfect , but I make my bed.

I do not know why I thought of it today , but I just made my bed. Miss you mom.

Your parents instilled some good values into you. We not only made our beds as younguns, but also learned from Dad how to cut meat with elbows at our sides, how to chew with our mouth closed, etc. Once this proper etiquette is learned, it's usually a lifelong practice.

Good on you, Da Prez!

Personally, we don't make our beds that well in the morning since only going to go back to sleep in them at night yet again.  Only time we make our beds looking like not slept in is if we get company over and know they will be going into the bedrooms which is rarely the case.   We may throw the covers back up but that is about it, no need to tiddy it all up to be perfect.  Plus, my wife likes to go under the covers (especially in the colder winter months) during the weekends in the daytime to watch TV since what she watches is usually not what I want to watch and vice versa.
