what do you run, 5w-40 or 15w-40 in the Valk?  10w-40 is recommended so guessing 15w-40 since never seen 10w-40 in the shell rotella t blue jug.  I think 15w is too thick in WI since run the cycle into the low 40's for temps and is a tad too thick while 5w is too thin in hot WI summers.  Or not?

I run the blue gallon jug 5w-40 in my Can Am ATVs I get at Farm and Fleet for same 20 bucks with 5 dollar mail in rebate.  The Shell Rotella T rebates seem to be run about 1-2 times every year and I hear good stuff about it made for diesels it seems like more so, but a lot of Can Am ATV users use it a lot since the crazy insane 12 bucks per qt. for Can Am branded oil is stupid high in price so not worth it plus 14 bucks for a Can Am oil filter when Hi-flo makes them for 1/2 of that almost.

If anyone needs oil filters for the VAlk,  hi-flo makes them and are black to match the cycle and have good luck with them think they are decent for 7-8 bucks each.  Of course, HOnda oil filters are not much more than that, but to charge at a Can Am atv dealer 14 bucks for their very tiny oil filter is insane.  It's just a very, very tiny paper cartridge is all it is for the atv, not even a metal casing like our Valks and about 1/3 the size of our already tiny Valkyrie oil filters.

Bought 6 & had to pay full price for 4 (we run it in everything). Didn't read the fine print. My fault entirely, jus' thought there might be others here like me & wanted to give 'em a HEADZ UP, haha!

Hey Cookie, I run the 5/40 T6 in everything, Valk, Wing, wife's Buick, my F250, & the Mack Dump, year round, change every 5k (roughly). Been using it for years. Haven't found anything better at this price point & haven't had to tear anything down due to failure (pressures all check good). Seems to be working. We run Purolator filters on everything. They seem to pick up more & I'm not a fan of the paper filter elements.

Question:  If you run it in everything you own like your cars that more than likely take 5w-20 or 5w-30 or even most newer cars even going ow-20 full synthetic,  what about the 40 not specific to any car/truck that I know of?  All are either 20 or 30, not 40?

am sure is good oil, just not so sure on using it if mfg. of a newer vehicle under warranty using non-specified oil for the vehicle would be a good choice?  I can see the vehicle mfg. stating by using non-specific oil if any engine damage, they would blame the oil, but they would have to prove oil caused engine problems.  99% sure won't happen though, especially if changing oil every 5K miles as we should and I do also.  Letting any oil, in my opinion, go over 8K miles, even if synthetic, to me is not a good thing.  I don't believe the claims on Amsoil synthetic oil (which I use at 10.50 per qt.) being able to run 25K miles (or 1 year) before your next oil change.

It is a good deal though although not specifically 'synthetic' oil I don't think (or is it, will have to check my jug?), the container I think says performs just like full synthetic oil which is a good thing and pretty cheap at price of almost regular conventional oil on sale for around 3 bucks per qt.

I don't own anything newer than the '05 Wing so can't help ya there. Used to run their "dino" in the dump truck but the T6 seems to allow for easier start up in the cold months. It's got an excellent additive package. Good detergents without the friction modifiers that can cause problems.
I've let the car & trucks go 8k but I don't think I've ever let the bikes go longer than about 6K. I can feel it in the shifts when the scooter's due for an oil change.
Pretty sure I read somewhere that T6 is not a pure synthetic but a blend with dino.
Still, for the price, easier starts, good cleaning & lubrication properties, & to me it shifts better than straight dino in the bike. Guess you could say I'm sold.
Loved Mobil 1's 15/50 in the Valk, for just a little while. Clutch started to "butter"! Did 3 oil changes with Rotella dino in about 10k & she tightened right up. Went back to the T6 after that & never had another problem.

Shell says the T6 is full synthetic, T5 is a blend. Were you getting clutch slippage with the Mobil1 ?

Thanks, I knew one of them was a blend, & yes, my clutch started slipping with the Mobil 1. It was slight & only a hand full of times but the bike only had 'bout 15k on it at the time! Seems most run it for 100's of thousands of miles with no problem but a few have had some clutch issues. Read an old post here about someone flushing it back out with standard oil (dino) to clean it out of the friction plates so that's what I did. Never slipped again after that, not once. Shame to cause Mobil 1 was the quietest oil I ever ran in the Valky. I liked it 'till it "buttered my clutch" haha.

Whiskey, not only will they only do two bottles, but if you purchase some more at a different time, (few weeks later) they will not allow the rebate to pass either.

I run it in everything right now as well...
