Feb 8th this year was a Sunday. I had hung up my coat in the lobby of the church and left my cell phone in my coat. As I was heading into the church proper the secretary told me my coat was ringing. Being as service was about to start I said if the leave a voice mail I'd get back to them. After service went to my car was gonna start it and the little voice said don't start your car. I had a missed call from my brother-da prez-and when I reached him he told me our baby sister had died while out walking her dog. Found out later an aneurism had taken my sister. My half brother on my Mothers side died from an aneurism. Earlier today I was at the V A hospital in Poplar Bluff Mo. for an aortic ultra sound to check for an aneurism. While I was on my ride I checked my phone and had a missed call from the V A hospital and a voice mail. Instead of calling I rode to the V A clinic in West Plains Mo. They informed me that I do have an aneurism but to do what I've been doing and check back for another aortic ultra sound in 6 months. If aneurisms run in your family get checked out now. If they don't run in your family males are supposed to have the first one at age 65. My B I L lost his wife my nephew lost his mother and my brother and I lost our sister. Gals and guys-an ultra sound is so cursed simple there is NO excuse for not having it done. Get er done and get a peace of mind. RIDE SAFE.

Very interesting! And I'm certainly sorry for your loss. I wasn't aware that there's an exam or test for this. I, for one, will inquire about this and follow through. Thanks for sharing your story and take care. Life's so short.  Cry

Old is correct guys. I've done thousands of them and they are so easy to get done and there is nothing to it. And to boot, most of us vascular ultrasound technologists always look around at everything in the general area as well so you get more than you pay for.  I've helped save several lives with this simple test.   I'm the worlds worst when it comes to getting tested for anything, but I think that is par for the course for my profession, or should I say former profession.  do it fellers.  cooldude

Sorry to hear about your loss, Denny and Ross. My condolences.

My wife, if she would've lived, was about due for aneurism surgery on the aorta.

I've had ultrasound and everything is ok for me.

I  know what it's like to lose sisters, I've lost all four of my sisters.

Sorry for your loss!!! But they are in a better place, their pain and problems are over. They are crying for us because we are still here and still have to hammer out a living and deal with the pains of life. We all know we are going to leave this place, hopefully it will be quick. People look at death as a bad thing, I see it as a next step to a long journey and to be at peace.

As I'm not married anymore are the age parameters for females the same as for males on the U S test? Reason I ask a lot of the ladies on our board might be wondering and being as we have an in house expert! The knowledge on this board and the willingness to share it STILL surprises me at time.  cooldude Guys and gals-again-the test is easy AND the lady that did mine had the gel warmed up nicely. RIDE SAFE.

Well, I'm no expert, and I am retired , but I remember seeing many more men than women with AAA. My memory seems to recall that women risk factors are much lower than mens when it comes to AAA, but I cannot remember the percentages.  I'm sure it is an easy look up on google.

My heartfelt condolences O2S. My dad passed over from AAA and I'm now very close to 65. I guess it's time for a check-up. I love this board! Thanks O2S.

You sir are NOT alone for the love feelings on this board. The well wishes make sharing my experience worth the pain involved. If this saves ONE life it is worth it. I have been the recipient of more help and understanding here than I could possibly have imagined. I've noticed that no matter our differences of opinion on some matters we tend to pull together on the important issues. Looking forward to seeing a lot of ya'll at I-15!  cooldude Til then-stay healthy-stay strong in your chosen faith-and as always-RIDE SAFE.
