Cat 5, 135 knot winds - call it 155 mph, with gusts to 190. Most of the population is now homeless. We lived in Am Samoa from 2001 to 2008, and they live with the potential for these things every year. You want to talk about rain? I've seen 10" in about 12 hours. Almost lost our boat there in Cyclone Heta in 2003, which was another Cat 5. Cat 5's hit land about once every 5 years. We moved to Tucson in 2009 - much less chance of drowning here...
We loved the tropics... but don't miss these beasts whatsoever.
