Thats what they are trying say. One of the excuses was a decline in hunting.
Personally I don't think the folks asked told all to be told. Boating incidents are on the rise aren't they.

So why are more Americans saying no to gun ownership?
just like me when I had to go to a new DR.  one of the quistions was
DO I HAVE OR OWN ANY GUNS?
IF SO HOW MANY?
WHAT KIND?
my answer was none to all the above.  It is none of there dam business what I have and when the Dr. came in the room the first question I ask was why was the question about guns the forum.
Her answer was ( the government said they had  to ask. )
that could one reason why there are less ownership of gun owner's showing up on paper

Its Huffington post nothing else should have to be said except that its a blog. No fact just a liberal fiction story or wish.

I seriously doubt WE the people have less gun ownership.

WE don't really know, and on this subject, I'm very happy neither WE nor THEY really know.

But THEY have to ask themselves..... once WE are over 300 million personally owned firearms, what's a few million either way really mean?

If THEY are unhappy about it, good;  then WE are better off.

Yep just more folks telling people it's none of their business and it isn't. I don't even purchase ammo with a debit card cash only as it is not traceable. coolsmiley

Hogwash, I don't believe it.
I had a nice conversation with someone that worked at the Cabelas gun check out counter. I was told they sell an average of fifty guns a day during the week and about 100-150 a day on weekends. On holiday weekend sales, employee discount sales, or hunting season they move about 300 a day on the weekends. This is just one Cabelas location. Now, consider all their other locations, Gander Mountains, Bass Pro Shops, Dicks, and local gun shops and you need an accounting degree to estimate the number of units sold every week.  Cheesy  Also consider the gun buying craze's we experienced with the current administration. Put's the ammo crises in perspective.

Says the professor of poly-sci.  Yep I believe his numbers.  He wishes.  Or trying to put on a spin.  Now he can be quoted by other liba-nazis.  Well it's from the unimpeachable professor.  He wouldn't say anything he couldn't back up now would he.  If there was any truth at all to his numbers - and there isn't - it would be because gun owners are more into keeping their arms cache to themselves.  Betcha a dollar Prof Tures would love to have an armed "friend" come to his aid when the regime comes to take his other rights and throw his ass in the gulag.

What are you reading Huffington for, anyway?  worthless liberal rag.

From my understanding the point of the article isn't that less guns are being sold, but that a lower percentage of the population own ANY guns. Now, those who DO own guns own more and more guns per person, but they're saying the overall percentage of people who own any gun, irregardless of how many they own, is going down.

I too think the reality is more along the lines of "The percentage of the population willing to admit they own any guns" is down. THAT I believe...

Boating accidents are on the rise for sure. I recently lost 50 guns and every bit of ammo I had accumulated over the years in a tragic boating accident. Luckly I was wearing my life vest and made it out of that 16' man powered jon boat alive.

Not sure about the poll taken.  Only 2000 or so folks.  If I read it correctly they did the poll in person.   Since it was taken and these folks were out of Chicago, not sure it they went around the country or to just the Chicago area.   If a person came to my door or caught me on the street and asked it I had guns in my home or on me.  I wouldn't tell them the truth.

Not that I am saying there is or isn't a gun safe in my closet with guns in it.
