Its been since the 1st week of Jan since I started either bike

When I came back from the weekly visit to mom over the river and thru the woods I grabbed both sets of keys put on my riding boots and jacket and sat on the beemer 1st

The police bike has a switch to kill the lights (shhh)  so I always hit that and then start so all the battery power can go to starting the beast.

The familiar sewing machine sound immediately started and I eased it past the ice onto the dry driveway with the full choke on and turned on the heated grips.      Smiley   checked the tires, all as it should be

So far so good Now to the Valk..........nothing  just a faint red idiot light on the dash    Undecided

Damn thats not even a 1 yr old YUASA battery   but in fairness we have an unheated garage and the temps had gone to 1 degree many times over the past 10 weeks

Rode up the driveway then took the beemer down the hills to the Hudson and man it was gusty, mid 40's temp really felt great that R1150rtp really hugs the road but its not comfortable for a LONG ride due to my height and long legs  After 5 miles feeling the battery was now charged I finally remembered to turn on the headlights and got off 9A for the ride south.  Never went over 80, never felt the need

Did not see any other motorcycles which was not surprising,

Now the Valk is on the bmw battery charger which will get r done for whenever I am ready to ride again

Hopefully before I head to N'orleans next month and GOTF

Anyone get out from the northern regions this weekend?

Hey "Oss" the battery on my I/S will not hold charge for more than two to three weeks because of the clock in the radio. The Standard will stay up for ever.   Anyway, I took off at noon, 58° and sunny. Less than 30 miles out, the sun went under and stayed under. Temps dropped and you could feel the cold wind blowing off the snow banks along the road. Road very cautiously due the sand and cinders all over the roads. Got home and had to wash the salt dust off. Still worth the effort for some wind.  cooldude

My I/S holds a charge no problem.  It held over the first winter I had it and started on it's own the next spring.

I got out Tuesday for about 10 miles to warm up the coolant and oil for their spring change.  Today I did another 15 or so and then changed the gear oil.  All set for the year.  Tires only lost about 2-3 psi over winter in the garage.

I am pretty sure this is the earliest I have ever been out riding.

Feels good.  I look forward to some good  rain to clean the crap off the roads.
