I was out on the Valkyrie today when I pulled up next to a Warrior at a stop light.  It had custom paint and exhaust.  The guy asked if I wanted to race to the next stop light.  I said "sure". I let him get off the line first so that when passing him it emphasized the standing still effect even more.  I wasn't even ready for how fast I passed him.  At the next light he said that he owed me a dollar.  I told him to keep it, and rode on. It was a good day on the Valk. Not to mention it was 82 degrees here in Pueblo,  CO.  today.

Way to show him Josh.  LOL.  Just hope you don't end up with a "racing coupon" or "Ticket to the policeman's ball" for your efforts one of these days.

Pueblo doesn't have much to offer in regards to traffic enforcement. Pueblo only has 1 officer for 1,000 citizens. With legalizing Marijuana and the crime that came with it, the police are busy doing other things. I did however glance around before we took off  Wink.

What speed did you get up to before you backed off the throttle?

I raced a newer Wing once at a stop light in a larger town nearby.  The more I thought about it afterwards, was a dumb move to race in town on main drag with cops all over am sure.  He beat me by a few feet is all pretty much neck and neck but shut it down after 55 mph in a 35 mph speed zone feeling the risk wasn't worth the small reward.

Best to race in the country where you are more likely to not meet the police.

I only got her into 3rd gear before the next set of lights. Sorry, but I didn't notice my speed. I only backed off the throttle after I won  Wink.

The (Yami) Warrior and (Kaw) Mean Streak came out about the same time.  The warrior had a bigger motor, stock.  But with the best airkit (and desmog), pipes, PCIII and map, my Streak gained some very decent HP, and no unmodified Warrior could touch me.  Now when I ran a modded Warrior, it was a push.

But I've beat guys on bikes that should have beat me.  When you offer to swap bikes, and beat them again, it really bums them out.   Cool      (Though my days of swapping bikes are over) (and I won't race, but out in nowhere, I'll do roll-ons)

The Warrior was a 1670cc motorcycle when released in 2002.   I liked the bike except for the stock exhaust.  Ugliest exhaust - worse than my two VTX1800C bikes.

Quarter-mile acceleration: 12.71 sec., 103.0 mph

Of course my Valk has had just a little bit of work done to her. Plus the Blue & White Valks ARE the fastest.  Grin

The Warrior is fun (I have a 2008 with mods) but it's no Valkyrie.  It does do really well for a pushrod V-twin.

My stock 1300 Honda has 164,000 miles, wanna race? 1000 yards or 1,000 miles, your choice.

Be careful racing those Vtwins, some may surprise you. A light Harley with the big engine will surprise you. Those new 1800 engines are up to 95 hp in the Springer softail, (753 pounds).

I don't buy that old cripple nonsense. What you have is experience! So NO head start for you.  Grin

Are you going to InZane this year? I am 530 miles from Spearfish. If you are about the same distance we could stage a legendary race to InZane!

I once raced a new Shelby Mustang off the freeway on ramp. We got up to about 80-90 mph. No contest, he could beat my butt. I was fun and thumbs up from both of us.

I've been to Spearfish the last 2 years for a ride/meet so doubt I'll make it again this year. never can tell, surprise trips come quite often. I'm south of you about 300 miles. I haven't done a 1000 mile day since last May when the KLR650 needed the seat broke in...

Careful.  Careful.  The Iron Butt title is not uniquely held.   Cool
