Hello VRCC members,
I am new here and new to the world of the Valkyrie. I just wanted to say hello and give a little about me.
I just picked up bike #8 a couple weeks ago. Of Coarse a Valkyrie. I was pretty much set on a Goldwing but everyone I talked too said "Your too young for a goldwing", "Do you have grandchildren?" etc.. haha. As what people say or think about my life really never phases me because I do what I want and it's never the normal anyways haha. For some reason it began to bug me tho. I do still love the 1800 GW's. An other thing that kinda got me away from a GW was the fact that i saw a couple GW videos on YTube and they mentioned that they would get a Harley or something soon because a GW just looses some of the bike experience. More like driving a car the riding a bike. I can see that and I do love the wind and everything that comes with riding!

So I sat and thought a little on what the next best thing is to a GW. Quickly found out about Valkyries. Then i remembered going to a Honda dealer back in 96" or so to have my Hawk serviced and they had the promo video playing for the new breast, the Valk. I watched that with my brother thinking "One day .. One day!" Then it was on for the hunt for a Valk. At the time I was waiting on my Tax check to come so I was just looking. Scanning CL,  C trader, and all options. Checking shipping costs etc.. everyday. I found a couple deals out there. After about 2 weeks I came across a post in a local CL. Boom It was the one! no check tho. Just out of a chance i checked to see if i got my Tax funds. Boom! It came early! 1st day one the market I made the call and said Forget about the 2 guys comming tomorrow. Ill be there tonight. He was ok with it. 1999 Yellow and Ivory. Asking 6k with 9500 miles. Corbin seats, bags, and a windshield. Talked him down to $5500 and payed cash.

The gentleman I got it from said he had a couple other bikes in the back Including a nice Honda SV that we talked about for some time that night, (As that was one of my options after dropping the GW idea) he will gladly show me when i come in the morning to pick it up. So I asked about his other bikes the next morning when i was over at his house and he takes me to his back yard. Im thinking "Ouch, keeping them outside?". Huh... no bikes back there but a nice Guest house off in the corner. He opens the garage door and he had the whole house converted to a museum for classic Hondas. 30 35 bikes all restored to perfect condition and all under 10k miles. Wow i think. Spent a good part of the morning walking talking and kicking tires. I realized I made a good buy. He bought it out of state from the original owner and rode it once. Basically a one owner bike to me. I couldnt be happier. It IS a 16 year old bike and there are a couple things I am thinking about now.

Since i got it a couple weeks ago i have put 1100 miles on it. And for the most part running great

Yes its awesome! I love any ride, car or otherwise, that gets a conversation going. I love to talk about it all. I have already got 3 people asking what it is and one asked if it was a 4 cylinder i love telling them " why No, thats not a 4 cylinder Smiley".. and plenty of "Sweet bike" comments in the passing.

One thing I have realized since owning my Valkyrie for so long:  It is not the bike you ride when in the Witness Protection Program.  There is nothing "low profile" about the Valkyrie.  It's like riding a giant exclamation mark.

                                      welcome to the club.......................
While at stirgis on my VTX1300C I saw a valkyrie and knew I had to have one...
took me a year but found a nice 1998 GL1500C at a dealer,he wanted $6500,but it was Oct. so i offered $5000, he added taxes and I was out the door.
Enjoyed riding her all the following year, then went to the bike show, and found out the valkyrie was coming back.  That spring rode one and new it was time for a new bike.......... I sold the 1500 to a harley friend we take trips with, it is now what he rides most of the time...And my new 1832 is set for this season with 2 nice trips planned.               ALL GOOD  ride safe woofred

Thanks for the warm welcomes.
I love the fact that I sit at a red light and i catch someone looking over and down at that giant slab of mechanical chrome. I ride with a full face but there is a s^*t grin underneath haha. Not a goldwing that's for sure. I can get the options that attracted me to one on this if i want tho. But the great thing is the engine. I do believe its one of the best ever made.  cooldude

good deal, you will enjoy for many years to come am sure.

Congrats as well!!!!  cooldude

I too was looking for a goldwing 7 years ago, but after riding one,  I figured at the time still in my 30's that I was as well too young to get one.  Maybe in 10 more years, if and when my Valk wears out (doubt it), I will be old by then and get a 1832cc Wing.

I've seen some nice 2001-2005 Wings in the 9-12K range with lower mileage. So tempting, but not ready to depart from the Valk yet.  It has character unlike most Wings.
