i always thought you could not be tried twice for the same crime?
well the guy that killed his wife and i think a couple others, what was it over ten years ago? did some sort of radio show and went to the bathroom the other day and said to himself, "i killed them all" and something else i cant remember, and now they are taking him back to court for murder after finding him not guilty 10 years ago...
i just caught a glimpse of this on the news yesterday..
any comments?

Durst has been tried and acquitted in the death of another person in Texas and was a suspect in the disappearance of his wife. I don't think he was tried for his wife.

Did some Googling on this, it appears he's suspected of murdering (at least) 3 people. He has only been tried for the murder of one of them...

So, he could still be tried for the other 2, even with the protections of double jeopardy in place.

They Only found him not guilty of one of the murders/crimes.....

But there are still ways to try someone for the crime.... different charges, etc.

He was found not guilty of the one that he chopped up and disposed of.

Admitted he chopped the guy up,,it was self defense he claimed and won.

Defended himself in court.

Quite a fellow,,he is a murderer of course.

If I'm remembering the story correctly he had a highly paid lawyer defending him in that case.

He got the best defense money could buy. Kinda reminds me of other high profile cases. Doesn't justice go to those who can pay the most.
