I would like to delete all the songs on my iPhone.

I have created a playlist in iTunes that I would like to download (or sync ??) to the phone.

Anyone know how to do these things?

Thanks,
G

BTW, it's an iPhone 4 if that makes a difference.

Have done this in the past. Been a while though. Am thinking that all you have to do is connect the phone to the computer and in your iTunes program select 'sync'

My phone has a tutorial available on line that is interactive. As you progress the tutorial shows you what you should see on the screen of the phone at each step. Walks you thru the process AND a lot easier to understand and read than that telephone book size manual that came with the phone. Absofrikkinlutely NO pun intended!  Grin RIDE SAFE.

You can do 100% of your iphone management within iTunes on your computer. Just plug it into the computer, run iTunes, and select your phone. You can then select everything that you want on the phone. You'll need to select to sync musc and then select to only sync selected playlists, etc instead of your entire library.

When trying to do this the other day, I found the selection between syncing lists or the entire library.  The only thing I can'r figure out is how to delete all the music on the phone.  I've tried doing it through iTunes on the laptop, but I can't find the thing to click on that will delete something.  I can delete individual songs, one by one, but that would take forever, and a lot of stuff is in the cloud and I can't future out how to get the info off the phone.

Thanks.

I can tell you that if you turn off the backup and say don't keep this information on the phone that it will delete it off your phone and backup. You can also turn the backup back on. I believe you can also choose to transfer your playlist to the phone by I Tunes and delete all the other songs. Also most music goes into albums if your music is in albums you can navigate to the album and slide the album to the left and delete it, just like you delete messages, notes or phone numbers. While I like the Apple operating system and hate I Tunes it has come a long way to user convenience. Its just a matter of trial and error. I would suggest you backup contacts and pics not only on Itunes but you can download pics and contacts directly to Windows without using I tunes. At least if anything goes south you will not loose all your information. Windows does have a contact program pre installed on it but its not listed in the programs.

I'm going to try to send you a PM with my phone number. I can walk you through doing what you're trying to do.

Or you can ignore (turn OFF) the sync function and manually add or delete songs from the iphone.  To delete, simply click the iphone icon in iTunes and then click Music to show the songs on the iphone.  Highlight the songs you want to delete (the C.W. McCall songs in the photo below) and right click.  You will be given an option of deleting the music.

To add music to the iphone, click the top Music selection (under Library and above Devices) which will show all the music on you computer Tunes.  Highlight the music you want to add and "move" it to the iphone (on the left under Devices) with the mouse.  You can create a playlist on the iphone by highlighting Music under iphone and then clicking the "File" option (upper left), then New, then Playlist.

This does not use the sync function at all.
