Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: March 29, 2015, 06:19:03 PM »

We started our hometown group out of Clinton , Tennessee on Friday morning. Took a nice ride south to hook-up with Mike ( Hubcap ) from South Carolina in Sweetwater, TN. We stayed off the major highways until Mike had a rear tire start showing thread ( bike had 2,200 miles on it ) . These first couple picture's was our group of 7 Valkyries and a Yamaha  that rode down with me on Hwy 30 near Dayton, TN on The Tennessee River.

The Tennessee River is the largest tributary of the Ohio River. It is approximately 652 miles long and is located in the southeastern United States in the Tennessee Valley. The river was once popularly known as the Cherokee River, among other names, as many of the Cherokee had their territory along its banks, especially in eastern Tennessee and northern Alabama.

We had 21 bikes leave the motel with us on the Saturday group ride . This is the first "Dam" we rode to Dogwood Lake. Dogwood is one of eight reservoirs that provide flood damage reduction, recreational opportunities, and water supply in the Beech River watershed in west Tennessee.

Second stop was Redbud Dam.

Redbud is part of a cluster of eight reservoirs that provide flood damage reduction, recreation, and water supply in the Beech River watershed in west Tennessee. The others are Beech, Cedar, Dogwood, Lost Creek, Pin Oak, Pine, and Sycamore.

Third stop Pin Oak Lake.

Forth stop Beech Lake.

Beech Lake is a reservoir located just 1.4 miles from Lexington, in Henderson County, in the state of Tennessee.

We had hoped to ride to all  8 Dams/Lakes on the Beech River Watershed however with the ride down and back to the motel the clock and miles was not our friend.

I took this last picture on the way home today at Ozone Falls. Ozone Falls State Natural Area is a state natural area in Cumberland County, Tennessee. It consists of 43 acres centered on Ozone Falls, a 110-foot plunge waterfall, and its immediate gorge along Fall Creek.

Again I want to thank everyone that made this ride we had riders from Tennessee ,Alabama , Kentucky , North Carolina , South Carolina ,Georgia ,Illinois , Indiana, Louisiana  and Virginia. ( Did I miss anyone ? )

Wanted to send a big thank you to Joe and everybody else for setting up such a grand time, as always.  Got back in Illinois a little before 4 pm.

Before I've even gotten unpacked from this trip I'm already thinking about the next one.  It's good to be retired.

Thanks again,

Mitch

I, too, really enjoyed that ride, the camraderie with all of you and  I especially appreciated Troutdude FIXING my leaking fork seal (so far, no mo' leak!). I also needed a jump to depart Sunday morning he stepped up for that too.  What a great bunch of guys you all are!

Smokingjoe really put together a nice ride, THANKS Brother! I've already greased the skids with the wife (who may come along) for the 3rd week in October....peak color leaves and all that.

I had a terrific ride to Pa. Sunday, with a completely unplanned route, 65N, Bluegrass Parkway, 64E (we'll call that the Kentucky Autobahn), 79N to 68E to 26N to Mom's where I parked and left the Valkyrie until my next trip north 4/9.  Sure spent a lot of time at/near/above 4000 rpm (85mph) and had repetitive tanks where I hit reserve at 130-140 miles (IS tank).

Phattgurl be thirsty.
