Shinko tires

Has anyone tried the Shinko SE 890 tires on a interstate I have ran Avons Cobras but not happy with them. I would like some input on what is a good riding tire that I can get some mileage out of.

I tried a set and didn't like them.

I had vibration issues with the tires, I bought them from Motorcycle Superstore they were no help at all when I had a problem (I'll NEVER buy from them again).

I managed to contact the US distributor for Shinko Tires and was VERY impressed with how well they stood behind their product.

They replaced the tires without question.

The replacement set was better but I could still feel a slight vibration at certain speeds. I finally concluded that it was caused by the tread pattern itself.

I only got about 6k miles out of the rear and 12k out of the front.

They run about half the price of other tires so the lower mileage on the rear wasn't that big of a deal.

I have a set of Shinko 230 Tourmasters on my Vulcan 750 and they are the perfect tire for that bike.

I would recommend them for just about any smaller bike.

I'm not sure though that Shinko makes a good tire for our Fat Girls.

I have ran about everything that there is trying to find something that will give me the mileage that I think they should.

The Shinko held good on dry pavement but didn't feel comfortable in the rain. I even managed to spin the rear a couple of times on wet pavement.

Avon's are by far the stickiest tires that I have ever ran, I just can't seem to get more that 8k out of a rear, fronts gave a respectable 16k.

My best mileage has come from Dunlop E3's (10k rear, 19k front) but they are pretty expensive.

I ran a Bridgestone on the rear it was OK but only lasted about 8k.

Currently I'm running a set of Metzlers, I like the ride and they feel really good on wet pavement.

The jury is still out as far as how long they will last.

I had a set on the IS I sold last year and they were very good IMO.  And, I bought a set this winter to have as ready spares on my spare wheels.  I thought they wore and handled well...... And the price was good too.

Funny you should ask. Had at different times 2 S E 890 on the front. First one over 14000 trouble free mile and the 2nd one still on the bike is at I believe 15000 + trouble free miles but will be replaced by a Shinko 777 in whitewall. My brother and I left Asheville last year and hit the rain as we went north. I never had one second of worry running the S E 890 in what at times was a heavy downpour. I have balance beads in mine and keep them at 43 to 44 P S I and have had them more than once up to 125 plus and not once was I worried about the tire. I've been surprised more than once about how far I've been leaned over in a curve when the pavement was trying to remove my boots from the pegs. I hope the 777 gives me the same sort of service the S E 890s have. RIDE SAFE.

I have an 890 on the front of mine. It is a tiny bit out of round but can only feel it below about 30mph. Have had it on there for around 4-5k so far and tons of rain with it. So far, so good.
