I remember the #1 song the day I was born, but get this:  My wife is a filapina and she was able to sing along with her #1 B day song, never missing a word, hitting every change perfect.  If only it wasn't off key.......

Hound Dog by Elvis Presley -- wonder if that's why I'm surrounded by dogs?

Y'all have listed some old songs I like but haven't heard for a long long time.  Vaya Con Dios will be stuck in my head for a while.

Sheeeesh I'm older 'n dirt.  Big Band Era.  Still like 60's & 70's rock the best.  Crosby, Stills & Nash came to my town a couple of summers ago and promised to do all the songs David could remember  -- 3.

This is almost on topic.

For my wife's birthday this year, I put together a set of all the number 1 hits on her birthdays.  I won't say how old she is, but it was a three CD set.  Was really pretty interesting--Probably more fun for me to research and put together than for her to listen to the songs.

Things I learned:

1.  Almost all the songs in the last 20 years are just plain weird (and lots of rap).  (Of course, I guess grandma and grandpa felt that way about Pink Floyd and Supertramp.)

2.  The published Billboard No. 1 for a given date is actually the song that was most popular a week or two prior (the obvious lag for the data collection).

3.  There were half a dozen or so repeat performers.  Only the Beatles appeared three times:  '64 She Loves You, '65 Eight Days a Week, and '67 Penny Lane.

4.  Most repeat performers were back to back or at least within a few years of each other.  Cher was the exception with No. 1's in 1974: Dark Lady and 25 years later (1999) with Believe.

For my wife's birthday this year, I put together a set of all the number 1 hits on her birthdays.

This inspired me to make a list of the number 1 hits on my birthday over the years.  I recognized very few of them after I got out of high school.  And a couple I *did* recognize I remembered from television commercials.
