Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: April 12, 2015, 03:37:50 PM »

We hooked up in my hometown of Clinton in The Great State Of Tennessee this morning. We was talking about where to ride to when I suggested " Let's go see T-Bird " in Cleveland, TN  my ridin' bud Gordon ( Lucky 13 ) ask should we let him know we are coming I said " Let's just drop in unannounced " . We made it to T-Bird's however he was out with his lovely wife for lunch and getting some business took care of. Not a total loss we had a awesome ride of around 250 miles today.

Took this first picture this morning of my ridin' bud Greg " Burn One " Smith  Smiley

This next picture is Paul ( Wimp ) down near the Hiwassee River. I'm pretty sure you can buy a ointment to cure that Paul  cooldude

We had lunch in T-Bird's hometown then hit the back roads toward Tellico Plains by way of Hwy 30 ( Greasy Creek ) . Awesome ride today the weather was perfect I even got a little sunburned. Last picture is Ocoee # 1 just outside of Cleveland. We did pass The Whiskey Man outside of Tellico Plains.
Ocoee Dam Number 1 is a hydroelectric dam on the Ocoee River in Polk County in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The dam impounds the 1,930-acre  Parksville Reservoir (often called Ocoee Lake), and is the farthest downstream of four dams on the Toccoa/Ocoee River owned and operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority. Completed in 1911, Ocoee No. 1 was one of the first hydroelectric projects in Tennessee.Ocoee No. 1 is located approximately 12 miles upstream from the mouth of the Ocoee, in an area where the river emerges from its winding trek through the Appalachian Mountains and enters the Tennessee Valley. The community of Parksville is located on the north side of the dam, and the city of Chattanooga is roughly 30 miles to the west. The Ocoee Scenic Byway— part of U.S. Route 64— passes just north of the dam. Parksville Lake extends for several miles eastward up the Ocoee and several miles southward up Baker Creek, which once emptied into the Ocoee just upstream from the dam. Ocoee Dam No. 2 is located just over 12 miles upstream from Ocoee No. 1.

Great report and idea to pop in on T Bird. Thought that might be the plan and sorry I couldn't make it. After church I rode back roads to Jamestown to check on an old Gravely mower for my hillside. Didn't pull the trigger on the mower but enjoyed 160 quick miles on nothing but back roads. What a gorgeous day.  cooldude

Sorry I missed the "Wild Bunch" today. That would have been really welcomed sight to have seen my riden buds after these last 3 weeks. I just had 3 days to get those taxes done, and my tax dude, was able to fit me in today.
You guys along with everyone else on here, have made me feel so much better, with all the positive posts. Three weeks ago, I thought I was about to be sent "return to sender", but the good doctors  were determined not to let that happen. Tests after tests came back showing nodes on my lungs, at first thought to be cancerous, luckily after biopsied, they were not. They were however from a virus called Sarcoidosis, this is the same virus that took my first heart. Now it is back in my new heart and lungs. They think they have found it early enough to cure it with high doses of steroids. They started the steroid treatment ASAP, and I was able to come home last night. I will have to make weekly trips for awhile to Nashville, TN for check-ups.
I could ramble on here, but will stop with this.
I feel so much better right now than I did 3 weeks ago, and I believe it is from all the prayers the VRCC sent my way.
Terry

BTW, If you read this BiGHEAD, I may need to borrow a helmet...the steroids will make my head as big as yours Grin

Would have loved to go on that ride with you, but I'm like T-Birds "tax dude" and I haven't been outside in 3 weeks now.  The 15th is a coming and so is the end of the semester, then I'm comming down for lunch, a ride and to give Terry a big welcome home hug.
