Hello everyone, I didn't want to be one of those people who stalk the forums and not ever say a word, so here I am. I just purchased a 1999 Valkyrie Tourer last week with a trailer from a person in Pennsylvania. This bike is a real eye catcher and rides beautifully.

I also have a 2011 Yamaha Stryker which  I love and have put a lot of time into but it isn't really meant to be a 2up bike so I have been looking for something that my wife and I could do trips on. I rode a few different bikes but I couldn't tear myself away from the Valkyrie. I knew I wanted either the Interstate or the Tourer but it seemed most of the Interstates around here had been beaten pretty bad.

The previous owner of the Tourer I bought had changed the petcock and suspension and was very straight forward in his knowledge of the bike. I however changed the suspension just today, he had just put 440's on it last year but the load was only rated for 120/170, I'm about 300 myself and the bike sqwatted pretty good with the adjustment at the 3rd ring. I put a 444 progressive on it with a spring rate of 270/315, it's pretty stiff with just me on it but rides just fine once my wife gets on. I also put one of those cheap radiator covers on it from ebay, a led kit and a led headlight from Cyclops adventure sports. I'm looking for a oil filter cover, I see a lot of people using soda cans, salt/pepper shakers, but I like the plate shield. I found one on ebay but it comes from France and I wasn't really positive about ordering it.

Anyway, I look forward to being a part of the forum.

Welcome to the VRCC! More importantly, welcome to the world of the most amazing machine you'll ever put between your legs! Love the Valkyrie! Truth is, like the '57 Chevy, '69 Corvette, and many other beautiful machines of yesteryear, The Honda Valkyrie is a one of a kind, limited edition riding machine that has never been duplicated. It is destined to become a classic. Anyone who has one should hang on to them. Someday, in the not to distant future, they will be one of the most desireable two-wheeled machines. Glad to see you've joined the forum. Check out Inzane and take a road trip!

Hey GMan, I've wanted many times to meet you guys on a ride, unfortunately, I work most weekends til 2:00pm. Please keep me posted, it might be something I can meet if I'm close to your ride that day, especially if you're up near the Catskills! Might see you there, Visionary!

Welcome from the state next door.

Check these out for filter covers, some of us have been using them for over a decade.

Thanks everyone. I will say it's tough to chose which bike to ride sometimes. I have become very partial to the Valkyrie in the short time I have owned it. Sadly the weather around here has been very off and on lately. I will definitely look into the shock cover for the oil filter or toss a beer can on it like I have seen others.

I have to keep myself in check with this bike for a little while although I do have a few ideas to change things up a little. The previous owner gave me a brand new National Cycle light bar in the package still. I went to put it on and found the original shield covers the area it needs to bolt to. I really don't want to cut anything up so I will probably look into a batwing style shield.

As for the area clubs and rides, it's good to know there are options around here. I'm hoping to do the Americade Rally again this year in Lake George, NY. I had a great time last year, I took my dad and he hasn't stopped asking if we are going again this year.

Tossing a couple pics up of the 99' Valk and one of my 11' Stryker.

Welcome from Brockport, NY. (Right next door to the "D's") I like using these oil filters. Not too bad cost-wise and they look cool...

congrats on the nice looking, clean sharp bike.

You won't regret it am sure, I think is the best bang for your bike in today's cycles even if it is 14 or so years old.

I too think in a few more years to come the Valk will become an instant classic much like the Honda magna's are today still fetching a pretty penny if kept in good shape.  If only I knew back in 1997 that my 1984 Honda Magna would not depreciate one single dime when I sold it for 1500 back in 1997, I would have kept it for sure and still be running today.  I'm heavier now and the Valk suits me better though today.

Pretty soon in a few more years, I think the  'near' bottom will be depreciated out of our Valks and hold steady for the most part.  Most of the depreciation has already past the Valk by.

Enjoy your smooth, powerful ride for years to come.    cooldude
