Because I am not a conservative I am constantly attacked or insulted on this board.  It does not bother me most times I just take it with a grain of salt.  I was called a wanky prat and was demanded that I show proof, I don't answer demands.  I told him a little bit of my past that I never talk about.

Like I said I put that part of my life behind me and I will never mention it again but that is not to say maybe a new member may join and he is attacked or insulted and could be still living a past like mine or even worse a mentally unstable person that holds such a grudge that he may go to one of your events for revenge.  At one time if I was talked to the way I have been talked to on here I would have drove the 50 miles to Zanesville just to kick some ass.

I realize its not likely but it only takes once.  You may want to rethink what you post, not likely any consequences would happen but you never know.

We can all be offended several times daily even if we choose too.  As you have chosen NOT to be offended I too have chose the pre '80's mentality where if someone says something that COULD offend I just get in line and get over it.  If everyone did we wouldn't have to be so danged politically correct.

Dave I don't care if you are a liberal verses a conservative.  Heck I don't even really know what that means anymore.  However comma......I think you have to be delusional to still be a supporter of Obama and if that offends you then you will just have to get over it.......Just like I had to get over the Bush bashing, I liked him as President even when he did things that may not have been perfect.

I must say what I have read here, seemed kind of childish, to come on like some mysterious glitter man. Grow up!!  If you are offended, and did not want to deal with stupid people, man! you came to the wrong forum.  Always remember: "Sticks and stones, will break my bones, but words are made for fools"  Awhile back I did an experiment, I bought a pie, cut a piece and eat it, I then went to the Valk site read some negative replies sent  to me, I then went and cut another piece of pie and ate it. You know what, it tasted the same as the first piece. Point is you are always going to have butt heads, stupid people, and sh*t stirrers and this forum has no shortage of them. But in the long run they are mostly all good people. If you can keep you anger and frustrations on the keyboard, rather than doing something stupid, then it is a good place for us to vent. You come here because you want people to understand you, if that is what you want, you come to the right place.  Keep in mind if people stirrer your pot, you also have the right to stir theirs.

People on this board are passionate in their beliefs. You are not going to change their beliefs and they won't change yours.

if you feel outnumbered in your beliefs, then maybe just talk about motorcycles or join a board that has the same beliefs that you have.

OR just don't open the thread.

Talking about the consequences of words on this board will solve nothing.  Many Service veterans on this board would only shrug their shoulders.

Threats never do anything to make your point, you never know exactly who you are talking to and it may not turn out as you thought. Sorry you feel rejected and insulted but you will find that the ones who had the same opinion as you and left were the ones that were missed the most. A couple came to suddenly untimely ends and you would be surprised at the response. A lawyer from Indio comes to mind but there have been others.

In many of those discussions, I just could never wrap my brain around the concept of what they are saying. Conservative, Liberal, Democrat, Republican and so on is not in our DNA, so the way I see it, we can always change.  So what is the big deal, again I support and vote for the best person I want, it is not tattooed on my ass. So I can change!!!

By the way what the hell is a wanky prat??????

I think we are all guilty of harsh words either on this board or in life in general with others at one time or another in our lives.

I try to remember, as we all should in my opinion,  try not to judge or offer too harsh of criticism's until you yourself have walked a mile in someone else's shoes.  None of us know what each other has gone thru or are going thru now in our personal lives whether it be family, jobs, or just life in general.

I've put my foot in my mouth several times.  For instance,  jokingly just this past year at work making small talk,  an older gent in his early 70's who shows up at work as a seasonal year after year for about 2 months during busy season when I saw him comeback that first day,  I asked if he was having fun traveling the US in his RV enjoying his retirement.  He responded it would have been better if his wife had not died.  Who knew?   Cry

I read this several times, trying to make sense of it.

I must have missed something that may or may not have happened before.
So be it.

As best I can tell there is an implied threat in the original post.
That is in-appropriate and I have so indicated in a report to the moderators.

The joys of political threads.  Opposing opinions are expressed, feelings are hurt, insults are hurled, threats are alluded to... opinions are not changed.   Take away the politics and the two people involved may have been friends.

Davet261, As most here know I am also not one of the cool kids when it comes to the political stuff that is endlessly expressed here, however my advice to you is this:  Don't consider anything that is said in a political or religious discussion here as a personal attack.  People are just passionate about their beliefs and because Christianity and Conservatism are the majority viewpoints on this board, those who dissent can expect to be chided by the majority.

All of that being said though, it has occurred to me that those I disagree with the most are the ones I'd probably like best in person.  I like passionate people and there is no shortage of them here.

finally, as far as kicking anyone's ass goes, I think the average age here is somewhere around 109.  Never mess with the elderly, they have canes.   Grin

There are a few keyboard Hero asshats here that think its fine for them to insult members they have never met face to face. These pussies are mostly non- riding cowards that live their life pounding off behind a keyboard and feel they must comment on every single post, 24 hrs a day they are on the board - it is their whole life. Pathetic internet stalking plonkers that get off insulting members long distance.
Had this discussion with others members recently - it's a big reason to avoid posting here most the time...  crazy2

My other forum doesn't allow either politics or religion threads EVER and now I see where the moderators would have to really work hard.  Smiley I do like the diversity of subjects here and to think we all mount 6 cyl. bemoths as a common denominator. Technically, a wanky prat would be a prat that is full of wanks.

Nonetheless, it violates the rules of this board to refer to another member as such.  What I find ironic is that according to some definitions a prat is an ass, specifically a self absorbed ass.   2funny

Argue politics and ideas all you want.  It is when it gets personal, name calling, that it crosses the line.

Although, some cannot even take the arguing of ideas.  They feel that if you do not agree with them, then it IS a personal attack.  They need to grow up.

I have a number of great friends that are of a different political persuasion.  With some, we argue politics a lot.  No problem.  With some others, we have learned we do not talk about it.  Fine by me.

If just reading the other side bothers you, do not open any of those posts.  Seems simple enough.  One can almost always tell what is in a thread, by the title.

I have counted, and it changes some, but about 3/4 of the threads are NOT political.  Read those.  Be happy.

"wanky prat" was a new one on me too, so I asked Mr Google.  He said "Wanky prat’ (NP, Br. Eng) - an idiot who thinks of themselves as such a badass, they masturbate to their perception of their own brilliance.

I think I'd rather be called a wanky prat than a liberal.

Christianity and Conservatism are the majority viewpoints

80% of folks in the US identify as Christian.
Not sure of the % of folks over 40 would consider themselves conservative.  I'd say probably more than half.

I used the age of 40 as that's probably the lower limit of where the less age challenged of us Valkyrie riders and those that love us reside.

So, point is, Christianity and conservatism are the moderate majority of folks our age, in our community.

Now, by our community, I mean mostly white men hovering 50 from all economic classes and professions.

So, of course if your view is different, you'd be swimming against the current, but, you shouldn't have to deal with name calling, no real biker should.   Cry

Dave,
I'm a pretty conservative guy.  My best friend is a gay ultra-liberal.  We argue politics all the time, then grab our spouses and go out to dinner and laugh about how stupid the other sides arguments are.  Its family.
If anyone disrespects my friend, they have my wrath to deal with.  Its family.
You and I would probably argue politics most of the time, but then the beer is on me.  Its family.

It's really not hard.

You say...... dude your POV/argument/position is BS/wrong/ill-conceived because of the following reasons: (insert logical, fact driven argument(s))

You do not say..... dude you are full of BS/ an ass wipe/ a 'tard/ an idiot/ a scumbag/ a dirt-head/ a limp dick/ a pussy/ etc.  Attacking the man and not his argument even has a name (Abusive ad hominem).  The most famous of these was Dan Aykroyd on SNL evening news..... Jane you ignorant slut.

There is nothing wrong with disputing a man's logic or argument; but attack the argument, not the man.  Of course, a well written fact and logic driven argument may belittle the man indirectly, but that is not the same thing as calling him names.

However, note that politicians, governments, departments, companies, extremists, and political parties are NOT members of the forum, and can be called all kinds of things (and regularly are).   Grin

There's only one way to solve the bickering. Come to INZANE! This year's version will be my 7th and I've NEVER seen anything close to a fight at any of them. Now, LIES, that's a whole different story.

What I'm trying to get at is that people often say things while hiding behind a keyboard that they really wouldn't say in person. When we all get together, it's a pretty cool thing!

Sheeesh, to think I actually sat and read through every post on this string. Oh well, didn't have anything else to do and needed a good chuckle, and brother....I got quite a few. Some were really laughable, starting with the original post on down.

My wife is a died-in-the-wool democrat, I don't happen to be. I've given her dozens of actual situations where the town/city/state...etc., have been run by the donkey for many years and are in the worst shape possible from a financial and political standpoint. The U.S. is a prime example at the moment. She acknowledges all I show her yet never waivers....but finds it impossible to explain why. We've been married for many years, have never fought, and I take care of her best I can. Will I ever change her mind...not in this lifetime so I don't even try. She will ask about certain things and I provide her with the facts that show her choice in a negative light, and she still never waivers. Foolish? Absolutely! Do I care? Absolutely not! One thing that has stuck in her mind was a comment I made years ago and it applies even more today in our current administration: You can't spend yourself into prosperity!  If so, we'd all be rich.  cooldude

Technically, a wanky prat would be a prat that is full of wanks.

Nonetheless, it violates the rules of this board to refer to another member as such.  What I find ironic is that according to some definitions a prat is an ass, specifically a self absorbed ass.   2funny

Could you please tell me how to get one of those? Been trying to take off a few pounds in that region...

Had this discussion with others members recently - it's a big reason to avoid posting here most the time...  crazy2

Big words for a little guy .... You calling me a pussy ??????
