What have they done???

It looks like a group of elementary school kids redesigned it. Yuck.

Can't use the map full screen.

Can't drag the route to change it.

No more short link for email etc.

I guess they must have a financial scheme coming up so that functionality can be had for a price.

Oh well, back to Streets and Trips.

EDIT

There are 2 versions of Google Maps

Lite and regular.

One can change back to regular if you so desire. Has to be done EVRY time you use Maps. hOW BLOODY SILLY IS THAT.

Oh well, back to Streets and Trips.

EDIT

Mapquest is still draggable.

Once in "Street View" there's no way to back out to satellite view.

What a crock of crap some plonker VP has authorised.

I don't understand, I just went on it and had no problem. Went from map to zoom to Sat view then, street view to map view to Sat view. Don't see the problem.

If you ever saved a link to a route, try to use it now...

I have several links saved that represent my route to inzane... gone now...

But I can still make a route and drag the line around...

Bing maps is as slow as molasses so f them too. Can't drag a route on that either.

I'm going to buy a Gazeteer and get lost.

What about Yahoo maps?

Thanks. The drag route function leaves behind the original route. Weird.

Excellent. Thank you very much.

I've managed to recreate one route and write it down turn by turn.

Now if I could only remember the other one   Angry

I don't get it, but I'm still able to use all functions, in and out of street view, drag routes, etc.

I didn't have any routes saved, but never used that feature.  What I DO use- the favorites.  I plug in favorite points on the map to force the route I want and can then easily use my phone to nav from fav to fav for the route I want.

That's good. I prefer mine typewritten especially if it's a 250 mile + day with over 40 turns.  Shocked

Paul

I turn the paper over when i get to the bottom

 Wink

There was lotsa room in there, unfortunately it fell of the bike in Alabama last year

Ordering a new one from amazon tonite   10 bucks is an easier loss than 600.

Nothing quite as entertaining as carefully printing out a long route trip by hand, then having it blow away a few hours into the trip.  (I have a tank bib pouch with little map case on the reverse of the flap, but had to turn it over).

Note to self:  Never put any personal identifiers on your routes and turns map.

Note to self:  One of these days you just might want to try one of those new-fangled GPS's (they almost never blow away).  I'm generally around 20 years behind the times on technology, so I guess it's about time.

But how do you get misplaced with a GPS? That's part of the fun of riding.

Oh I have no doubt I would get misplaced.. even with a GPS.  I can buy, bolt and wire one up no problem, but I am sure I would be completely baffled in trying to add programs, lay in routes, and learn how to use one.  (I'd just become another texting/cellphone accident smashed into the back of a truck)

It's only on the real high end ones, but there's a optional feature called an "Off Button"...  angel

And then, once you're hopelessly lost, have less than 10 miles of fuel left, and hear Dueling Banjos wafting in softly on the breeze, THEN you can turn it on to save you from a horrible fate...
