Sold my Valk today. Went to another local guy. Another Asst chief from a local dept. Told him about this " interesting" family. He said he was waiting for approval on his login for the board. He registered under the name of Cephus . I'll still be around from time to time. Thanks for all the help and info over the years.

Are you riding another brand now or taking a hiatus from bikes for a while? Don't be a stranger, you have always been a good neighbor.

Thankyou for the well wishes. I'm in the process of switching to the 4 wheeled fun. I've got twin 4.5 year old boys. While they loved climbing on the valk I wasn't comfortable taking them riding yet. I'm on the hunt (looked at a few rough) for a Manco dingo Deuce go kart. I'd ideally like to grab a deluxe model with the bodypanels and roof, but these are made of unobtanium.

Your doing the right thing. I quit riding in 67 after a bad accident with my Norton and a few months later my son was born. Didn't take up riding for 25 years when I bought a Gold Wing. Your kids need a dad.

Understandable. Enjoy the trip, no matter what vehicle gets you there, and bring those boys along for the ride. Good dad.

I've enjoyed your posts in the few months I've been hanging out here. All the best to you. Enjoy the kids while they're young! I have nephew with twins age 5, a boy and a girl. They are so eager to learn!
Good luck with go kart search. A mer 54 years ago I was enjoying my Go Kart with an AH-47 two-stroke ball and needle bearing engine with megaphone exhaust. The noise that made is not even legal today and roll bars were not even considered back then. Many early carts had Clinton lawn mower engines that weren't very exciting. I thought I had something for that era.

Ian, It's been fun having you around. You've been a great contributing member. I kind of went through the same process. Had a bike in 1988 for a couple years(Honda CB 500 twin) and sold it because we had our kids(4 in 4 yrs). I was without a bike for over 20 yrs while raising our young'uns before buying my first I/S. Have fun with your family. Who knows, maybe when you are ready to jump into the water again, Honda will have a flat 8 that will be maintenance free for the first 100k miles. Take care and stay in touch!

Like a few others, I too sold my 1984 Honda Magna in 1997 when first kid born in 1998, bought a fishing boat instead. Fast forward clock 10 years later and in 2007 bought a Valk I/S and now the fishing boat sits more often. Seems to go in cycles (literally).
When the youngest was 6, I bought him a new 2007 carryover model Can Am ds90 youth ATV for 1800 sold for 1500 3 years ago when he was 12. Probably put on easily 1200 miles on the ATV trails flying around top speed 35 mph, fast enough.
I'm guessing in another 10 years or less, you'll get the urge and maybe still some old Valks around to pick from?
Enjoy them while they are young, time goes by very fast from say age 5-13 and then after that, they don't want to spend as much time with parents but with their own friends their own age being more independent.
