When its 70 degrees and sunny on sunday morning you just
have to ride so I did
Today was the beemer's turn to play and we went up to the Annsville Circle to catch the
goat trail up to the Bear Mtn Bridge
As I got to the army base where the Tank used to be there was a big bunch of state patrol
stopping every bike checking registration insurance etc
I pulled over and the officer right away is asking about my hit-air jacket and he had
another cop (1 white 1 black) asking questions. I said my registration and insurance is in the
radio box behind the seat and started to lift the box lid and he said aw go on
I did not have the insurance card in the box as it turns out, so lucky me !
but I thought I did and I do now scotch taped to the underside of the lid
So I hit the goat trail hard and after crossing the Hudson went north on 9W
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_9W(which goes from the GW Bridge Past the Tappan Zee Bridge and Bear Mtn Bridge and north beyond Newburgh)
after the bridge past Fort Montgomery
http://nysparks.com/historic-sites/28/details.aspx and past West Point turning off and east and onto the cliff road which is a great ride and dizzy views
This is a MUST do if you come up this way as is Perkins Drive that I hit later, the 7 Lakes Parkway and 106
Eventually I did hit the top of Perkins and met a rider with a Gold Wing , a black f6 and a yamaha that looked just like the old kz1000 4 cylinders in a row, nice blue and white paint job
You can see downtown NYC skyline if the day is clear 50 miles away
Here is a north, south and east shot looking across the Hudson from the cliff lookout

Here you can compare my pics to those on the website for route 218
http://www.thecountysbest.com/route218/Taking the Palisades I caught up to a bunch of sport bike riders and had an enjoyable time
Stopped at the butcher in New Hempstead for corned beef and pastrami sandwiches for mom to have for lunch and did my weekly chores at her house then by 4pm I was on the road north on 9W to the TZ bridge
The beemer is really running smoothly and I find that I am better able to hit the twists in the road on that bike than I can do on my Valkyrie. Nevertheless if I am riding all day I usually will take the Interstate as the seat is just so comfortable as well as the mickopegs easing my hips and back
Hope you all got wind
