Why would anyone shave a cow like that?

Broussard, Louisiana

« on: May 03, 2015, 11:53:01 PM »

Been registered for awhile.  Got permission from my boss to take a little extra time to be with Bonnie after Inzane before coming back to Africa.  Got my hotel room last night for the event.  WHOOOO-HOOOO!  VRCC Fellowship ya'll!!!!!!!!

A little, short 1500 mile jaunt and I will be there.  WHAT A GREAT AREA!  So much to see within a short distance.  A few years ago, Hard6 and I had to boogie out a day or two early from the area - trying to stay in front of a lightning filled gully washer that caught us in Nebraska anyway, so there are some things I missed and want to see this time up there.  Just to wet your whistles, how about a few shots from up yonder.....

Along the Needles Hwy...

Man, so much to see close by.....like.......

Devil's Tower is just 40 something miles away (used in Close Encounters)

And there is an AWESOME road (I think it is the north one) that cuts across the Bighorn Mountains....what a great ride!!!!!

One thing to remember is though to bring your leathers if possible - you never know what kind of weather you are going to have.  In fact, I would say to definitely pack for weather. This was in the middle of June on the Bighorns.....with Moose walking around - up around Medicine Wheel.....

But be sure to pack for weather - it might  be June but you never know.  One of the coldest  rains I have ridden in was the one that we tried to beat out of South Dakota that caught us in north Nebraska.  Brrrrrrr!  But, if we hadn't gotten a room early, we would never have seen Carhenge.  cooldude
The loop of Needles and I think Iron Horse or something like that is a GREAT RIDE (from over by Crazy Horse Monument and winding up at Rushmore).  That whole area is magical and beautiful.

Cant wait to ride up and see everyone again......Ok, that's it.........It's official now........

WHOOOOOO-HOOOOOOO!  Can't wait  Cheesy Can't wait  Cheesy Can't wait  Cheesy Can't wait  Cheesy  Can't wait  Cheesy Can't wait  Cheesy Can't wait  Cheesy Can't wait  Cheesy  Can't wait  Cheesy Can't wait  Cheesy Can't wait  Cheesy Can't wait  Cheesy  Can't wait  Cheesy Can't wait  Cheesy Can't wait  Cheesy Can't wait  Cheesy

They even served grilled rabbit there......

Oh, wait, that weren't no rabbit - that was a SMALL ribeye at a tiny joint in Custer.  2funny

And did I mention, PIE??????

Herds of roaming buffalo - even ate a buffalo burger just east of Rushmore.

Man, I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See ya'll there!!!!!!!!!!  Inzane BABY!!!!!!!!

It will be a great time, the ride for me is about 1700 miles.
I am looking forward to it this year to test my new insides.
It will be great to see old and new friends, and see new places.
There are just magical places to see.

It's such a beautiful area.  I found this pic from when I was in there in 2002.  Had to make a camera scan from an old print.  I was camping alone, and riding my trusty but underpowered Shadow 1100.

I was trying to look Presidential but don't think I pulled it off!
