Nope, not me...a buddy, a harley rider is looking to buy a  2015 hd...

my question to those who have recently  purchased a bike, what were some of the additional fees on top of the sticker price?

Was in the HD shop Saturday, just dropped by.  Had a nice HD there for $37K, marked down to $34K, had some chrome on it, nothing special.  Looked like a little kids bike next to my Valk. Add
sales tax at 8% (almost $3K), title and tag, another $500 at least, then insurance, another $500, so you are at $38K when you walk out the door.  Might get $12 to $15K if you wanted to sell it.  Or, you could buy a good low mileage Valkyrie for around $4K.

Shhhh....don't give away the secrets.

Don't they still charge for dealer prep and delivery, and freight to them?

Yes, add that, probably another $2K, so make it an even $40K.  Can't imagine paying that much for a motorcycle.

Never paid all that additional crap....that is their gig to get it there and on the floor. This isn't just a Harley gig its all bikes including the new Valks. Price a top of the line Indian or Victory, same thing!

Freight/delivery is usually included in the MSRP price (window sticker) and should never be an added cost.  Dealer prep is the time they get for unpacking and assembling the bike.  Then there's sales tax, and tag fees (including a small added fee for acquiring the plates and registering it for you.  Get your own insurance for $300.

Well, as I recall.......dealer Prep, delivery/freight I don't usually pay for and agree that is on them.  Without it, they can't sell it.  Can't sell what ya don't have or un-crate and prep.  They usually fuss, but then I fuss even more and don't pay.

I told my buddy, ask them if they pull that stuff on the other merchandise on the showroom floor? How about in the parts department? IF you want to be in the business of selling things, you have to know what your costs are going in...this is why we call them stealers and not dealers...

I told him, their job is to take as much money as they can, your job is to not let them take anymore than you are willing to part with. Where that number is, is totally upto the buyer.

don't forget you must get the matching leather HD logoed jackets, assless chaps, and matching bras and panties, all HD logoed as well.   Cry

I get a kick out of the few HD owners I know in this town.  They get all dressed up in all the HD logoed attire just to go for even a short ride around the block basically.

I see the post about the invoice prices got removed.  Remember though "invoice" price is "basically" what the dealer pays for the bike.  That doesn't include rebates, cash back, etc. They can still sell a bike for "invoice" and make money depending on the situation/motorcycle.
