I think he knew and had them do it . I also think they can't prove it in a court of law. But the NFL isn't a court of law by any means.

Would you like to be punished for:

"more likely guilty than not"?

ie, 51% guilty chance, 49% guilty chance, so go ahead and punish?

I think the evidence needs to be a LOT stronger than that.

Maybe not perfect, but pretty darn good.  I do NOT see that here.  I only see "maybe" evidence.

I am NOT a Pats fan, either.

Unfortunately, I am a Vikings fan.   Cry Cry uglystupid2 uglystupid2

He and the head coach should be banned from the NFL for life, and the team should be disbanded.

For Pete's sake.  It's not life.  It's entertainment, including what they do or don't do to Tom Brady.

How many of you were over the speed limit last week.  I'm pretty sure I was and I was probably fully aware of it.

NO!  From a due process point of view, a 225 page report that concludes Tom maybe-probably had some knowledge of this going on is nothing more than speculation or an educated guess.  IE, bullsh!t.

This is a waste of everyone's time and is NOT news.  (Let's hear more about the IRS investigation.)

If it is such a big deal, put armed guards on the balls with an air gauge.

I can hardly wait for the TV nitwits to add a camera in the ball cage, and do a close up of the gauge every time a new ball comes in the game.  Yawn.............

I think the NFL and Tom Brady should SUE the ball manufactures for not providing the NFL with TAMPER PROOF Footballs. They need to switch to solid footballs made with a carbon fiber/dark side tire composite and clearly filled with a synthetic solid material.

He should have been honest, instead he lied. As I understand he was giving the team staff items like a signed jersey and game footballs that were signed, once he found out he was under investigation. These items are reportedly worth thousands of dollars each. I also heard that when he showed up he had his attorney and press agent. He also lied about knowing one of the men, but e-mails showed he invited this guy into the ab room. It was this mans first and only time in said room. The cover up is always worse...

Not only is it a waste of time but it is a waste of money.  I heard on the radio it cost the NFL $5 million to conduct this investigation.  I could think of a whole lot of better uses for that money!

first off let me say I am sorry MP is a Vikings fan, poor fellow indeed.  2funny

same goes for da Bears fan.  2funny

time to convert on over to the green and gold.  cooldude

I may be mistaken, but the way I understand it is each team provides the same number of footballs for their offensive team to use.  If that helps catch a few more passes or pass the ball easier being slightly underinflated or prevents less fumbles for the Pats, it is a slightly unfair advantage.  I hear only a one game suspension will happen probably for Brady, that is fair, along with say a 500K fine since the guy obviously doesn't need the money.  Use that 500K to help offset the B.S. going on with this tomfoolery.

I think the outcome of the Pats/Seahawks Superbowl though did not come down to a few underinflated footballs the Pats were using.  Just a poor pass by Russell Wilson and poor offensive call and great instinctive defense by Pats player that decided the game at the end.

Wasn't the football controversy in a playoff game?  First half to be exact?  I am sure in the Superbowl they were watched closely, and no low pressure footballs.  Also, the first half of the playoff game, when the pressures were low, half time came about tied.  In the 2nd half, when the pressures were correct, Brady had a brilliant half.  So, the low pressures did not help.

GOOD GRIEF! Brady and the Patriots scored more points in the second half with so call 'Properly Inflated' footballs, then they did in the first half. They were playing the Colts people! Come on will ya! Brady could have been throwing ping pong balls and still beat the Colts!

Guys (and gals);

Please let me inject a little bit of serious reflection into this thread.

Let me first state that I am from Greenwood, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis.  While I am a Colts fan, I am not that much of one.  I have only a small interest in NFL football.

What the Patriots was did unadulterated cheating.  While the report stated is was “more probable than not” that Tom Brady knew of the cheating, the report used this term because there was no direct evidence of his involvement.  There are people serving long term prison sentences because a judge found that it was “more probable than not” that they had violated the terms of their probation.  (Ironically, some Indiana courts have suggested that “more probable than not” is too high of a standard to impose for a probation violation that sends a person to prison for many years).  Not more than a few years ago, evidence that proved a fact “more probable than not” was sufficient to justify a sentence enhancement of significant magnitude.  “More probable than not” is sufficient evidence to justify a multimillion dollar verdict.

Unless you are willing to condone an “anything goes” mentality in professional sports, this is not a BFD offense.  Interestingly, Colts management sent an email to the NFL the day before the game stating it was common knowledge that the Patriots were cheating, and simply asked for a level playing field.  As Gregg Doyel (Indianapolis Star Sports Columnist) commented, “The Colts deserved better.”  (Star 05/07/15).

I am not suggesting that the Colts would have won the game under any set of conditions.  I am only suggesting that the Patriots and Tom Brady should be sanctioned and punished for blatant cheating.

Again, I am NOT a Pats fan.

Please explain this to me.  IF this is thru, that the NFL got an email saying the balls MIGHT be low pressure, thus knowing about it BEFORE the game, why did they NOT check the balls BEFORE the game started?  WHY did they wait until halftime?

Joe Thiesman was on the telly yesterday.  If I remember correctly, he played a few football games, and was a decent QB!

He said he had some footballs filled to correct pressure, and some filled to the tiny amount UNDER pressure that the balls in the game measured.  He then did a blind test, to see if he could tell which was which.

HE COULD TELL NO DIFFERENCE!

I think this is being blown out of proportion to the offense.  Punishment, maybe.  But, talk of 6 game to season long suspension is waaay overkill to me.

Seems to me that fans of the teams that the Pats beat, want Brady sidelined so long, that their poor team has a chance to beat the Pats!  Talk about Partisan Politics!

Best excuse / explanation / story:

Compressing air heats air; even more so in a warm room; take the ball outside to a cold sideline & the pressure goes down.

Well he got suspended and the team got fined.
Should have been more in my opinion.
And it is nowhere near the same as speeding. It is lying and cheating.
I guess it's OK for many though. It is what has become the accepted norm for personal behavior.
Just excuse it away? Doesn't work for me.

Well it's a good CHANCE that he (Brady) PROBABLY knew in a ROUND ABOUT way in SOME FORM OR FASHION that there COULD HAVE BEEN some under inflated balls. But the FACT IS we only have CICUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE ( which is no concrete evidence) in this case. But our HEART AND SOULS TELL US that MAYBE there was some foul play but the FACT of the matter is we CANNOT PROVE IT WITHIN A SHADOW OF A DOUBT!

SO LETS PUNISH'EM ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!

And that's the way it should be in any case, be it murder or B and E or theft or rape etc........ just have a good gut feeling and then we can punish'em, put them in prison and send them to the chair! Because there is a good chance they did it!
Holy Crap!
Lost all respect for the NFL, which in the first place, I did not have much anyway, so no big deal!
