New Haven to Indianapolis then back to us.

Ours goes to Vegas and back.

This sounds like Union work.

It actually sounds like a management decision that shipping the mail to a larger sort facility and back is less expensive than maintaining a separate smaller sorting facility.

Definition of insanity

"doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"

The package is now out for delivery ONCE more in Los Angeles. Fools.

All LA zip codes begin with 9.

Mine begins with 3.

Still waiting for Customer no Service to contact me.

The USPS CSR was able to tell me exactly the same information as I am able to see on the USPS web site.

Nothing more. Joke. They can't even see the ship to address.  Sad

I am also waiting for the shipper to check and confirm again that they did indeed ship a package to me.

If they had on the date they said and sent me the wrong tracking number I would have received the package by now any way.

I love the USPS. Open an account and never had a problem. Must better than UPS.

Overnight is a waste of money with USPS. I found it is as fast or faster to send it regular mail.
UPS is pretty good. One time a guy was covering for the regular driver and dropped at the wrong house. I find neighbors mail in my box pretty regularly though so it must be the nature of the beast.

Fed X, when they get it right, they are the fastest by far. But it is about 80% success.

Sounds more like the equipment in those cities is set up to handle the bar code, sorting or some other item that the local office can't do in a timely manner.

I believe it is called AUTOMATION.

I'd go ups.  Yup for a lot more dollars they too will eventually get your pkg where it is suppose to go. Where I'm working as courier I end up mailing Pkg's approx. 1 a WK with no choice but to go through ups and for what they charge they should be jailed.

That's exactly what it is.

USPS recently closed their sorting facility in Roanoke, VA.

Now letters mailed from Roanoke, VA to an address in Roanoke, VA are sent by truck to Greensboro, NC (90 mi away) to be sorted and then put on a truck back to Roanoke, VA to be delivered.

The claim is that they are saving money.

I have no idea how in could save money to truck something 180 miles that was only going across the street.  uglystupid2

Indy & Vegas are both hubs.

Each and every Post Office does not have the equipment to run all the mail through their system at that site.

So it is sent to Indy, Vegas, I think it is Houston, and the likes to get the mail sorted and marked in what I call Braille, actually bar code.

That funny writing like on all mdse anymore.

When the mail comes back to the town who sent it, it is ready to go in the carrier's sack for delivery.  The hub sorts it by carrier and forwards the mail as needed.

Last week, I purchased an "Omni Cruise" from California by phone on Saturday at about 4:00 p.m.

It arrived Little Rock @ 10:30 a.m. the following Monday via their $6.00 small all you can fit box.

Probably not enough people working on weekend to screw things up.

The USPS tracking page still show the package out for delivery.

The shippers tracking page shows the USPS attempted delivery yesterday. 5/19

So to add insult to injury the mail carrier

DID NOT LEAVE ANY NOTIFICATION OF AN ATTEMPTED DELIVERY
Jerk.

The local sorting office closes at 4pm so I'll go to get my package tomorrow May 21st - I hope.
Hopefully it's what you actually ordered. It would be a shame if you had to return it thru the mail.  Cool

I'm concerned that the shipper info is simply copying info from the USPS and ithat the package is still in CA.

The last time I got a package from the same shipper the mail carrier didn't leave any notification that they had tried to deliver.

All will be revealed when I go to the sorting office.

The grand finale - nearly  Shocked

I've been Paypal refunded for the package that went to California.

The second 2 packages I ordered also got mislaid/supposedly delivered by the USPS.

The shipper assures me that they used the correct ship to address - I'm beginning to have my doubts.

Now the shipper is screwing with me and refusing to refund me until they receive the 2 packages.

I didn't receive them nor did I return ship the packages so why do I have to wait for a refund? It shows quite clearly on the USPS website that I didn't receive the 2 packages.

Of course I've opened a Paypal dispute for the last 2 shipments.

The USPS strikes again.

Lost my envelope with tag renewal application forms and check. Idiots.

AND they have another strike against them.

Package sent from CA couldn't find its way to my door. Dumb asses.

Their web site shows it hung around Atlanta for a few days and is now back in CA. I'm guessing its being returned to the sender.

I mail many boxes a month and never once had a problem and have been doing it for years. Wife ordered something just last week from two different companies one ships USPS and one UPS the USPS one got here in three days the one From UPS says it was delivered yesterday ( three days after USPS) and it has not been delivered.
Also my wife is a Postal delivery person so I am glad that people still use them cooldude also they (USPS) deliver packages for Fed-x, UpS and all other major shipping companies every day. So they must do something right.

I order a lot of machine parts in the course of my day job, they are shipped to me in various ways. When some of the Western states first legalized pot, I noticed that many of the packages that came through one of those states seemed to get delayed there.  Grin I assumed it had to do with long forgetful breaks spent eating pizza.

I'm waiting for the day when the Post Office requires all subdivisions  to have central delivery ( they already do for new ones) or everyone will need a PO box type situation. I  can see it happening here first because I have contract rural delivery, and my local post office started not opening for satudays a couple years ago. Even now - saturdays is usually just 1st class mail - rarely 2nd and 3rd class.

However - The Post Office now has a contract with Amazon - if a package makes it to the post office by the end of the day, it must be delivered or the Post Office does not get paid. One of my wife's high school friends is a letter carrier in KC KS.

All of them (USPS, UPS and FedEx ) are pretty good to my location.
