I need new rears, Progressives on the bike but they are shorties and I doubt HD.  I had 440's on the '97 and liked them.  Any thoughts? Good place to order them from?

I have a set on mine,stock length hd.I think the 440s were actually the best I ever rode on a cruiser,but they kept leaking and PS replaced them with the 444s under warranty.I've had the 444s 2-3 years no compliants yet

For 13" HD you want 444-4221C (C for chrome)

Found them much cheaper in black, 444-4221B

You might shop around for prices, but those are your part numbers.

I keep telling you guys, always start with Amazon, then shop around to see if you can beat that price (rare, but has been done a couple times, and Amazon does not always have what I am looking for)

And you are generally better off dealing with Amazon if there is a snafu, than some fly by night parts house.

All you have to do is drop your part numbers into an Amazon search window.

C=Chrome

B=Black

I've got the 444s in the HD and 12.5 " length. Been liking them pretty well.

440s are discontinued.  You'll have to go to 412 or 444 (444-4221C).

They are saying that the 444 42 21,  13 inch does not fit a 99 tourer
Is it because of the length?

When I bought my 12.5" 444s. It was a bit confusing. I was getting mixed info about them working with the Valkyrie. Various vendors were claiming fitment, but by Progressive's own web site, they did not list the Valkyrie as being a match. Progressive site only listed the 412s for the Valkyrie. I bought the 444s and as they came, they would not fit my Valk. The mounting eyelets where you run the bolts through have a hard plastic bushing that has washer like flat areas on each side of the eyelets. Those washers I'll call them made the bottom end too fat or thick to slide into the area the bottom part goes into on the swingarm. I simply shaved down the thickness of these washer like surfaces on my bench grinder. It was a pretty simple modification.

We didn't have to do that on my Tourer.  The shocks come with several metal sleeves in various thicknesses for fitting inside the bushings.  The ones that best fit the upper bolts on the Valk were so tight squeezing into the bushings we had to trim the very top of the hole very slightly to start the sleeve so we could press it in the rest of the way.  But, yes, 444s do work fine and the suspension feels GREAT!

The sleeves that came with it were not the issue. I don't know how to describe what I'm talking about better than I did.
