This is about internet speed.
Normally my download is 30+M and upload is 5M, however, at times when having trouble with Netflix continually reloading [or not reloading] if I try to test the speed its very low sometimes in the single digits. But, even rechecking the speed sometimes within minutes the speed is back up. I've checked all the normal stuff I can think of, rebooting everything and a new cable modem. Time Warner is now into charging for service calls, [ but still can't fix anything]. I hate this company, but, around here they are a necessary evil.
Can high usage of other folks on these lines cause this trouble ? Or, what could it be ?
Could be any of a myriad of things.
And remember, the speed testing is testing the speed from your computer to the speedtest computer, not your computer to the Netflix servers. Netflix and the other big streamers are in pissing matches with the big Internet providers over peering fees right now (Basically they're fighting over who pays whom to have direct connections from the streamer to the ISP) and often us, the users get stuck in the middle.
If you're using Netflix from a computer and not a device, give a proxy a try, often times this helps for me when I'm having issues getting you Youtube:
https://www.proxfree.com/Basically by doing that you're rerouting your traffic form the heavily traveled lanes between Time Warner and Netflix and instead routing your traffic from Time Warner to a third party and then into Netflix's servers via a different route.
There's also a chance I'm completely off base and your problem is something else entirely, but it's worth a shot.
