My oldest brother is having Lung surgery today.

His health isn't good and the Drs aren't very optimistic about his chances.

Please pray that his surgery goes well and that he will be healed.

Just got a call from my sister in law.

Cliff's kidneys are beginning to fail and he is still on the vent.

They are talking about making him a DNR.

Please continue to pray that he will be healed.

Thank You ALL.

Prayers heading your way.  Get him off the vent asap - pneumonia becomes the enemy with the use of the vent.

I want to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes.

Your support means more that you can ever know.

I wish that I had good news to report, but I don't.

Cliff died yesterday morning.  Cry

Guys and Gals, I need one more special prayer from you.

My sister in-law wants me to deliver the eulogy at Cliff's funeral.

Please pray that I can get through this without breaking down.

This will be the hardest thing that I have ever had to do and I will need all of the strength and prayer  that I can get.

My sincerest condolences to you, you and your family will be in my thoughts...

I've unfortunately had the honor of being asked to do the eulogy for several funerals in the last few years. Prepare your remarks, practice it before hand, and when the time comes, just do it... It's tough, but you'll do fine, and if you do break down during the delivery, that's okay too...

We are so sorry to hear your brother did not make it

Its an honor to be asked to speak and If you break down
or need to pause to catch your breath a few times
during the eulogy it is just because of the
depth of your feelings,

Say what is in your heart and you will do fine I am sure of that

I don't know how a person cannot break down when someone they loved has died and they are dealing with it themselves. Ive had a few that I have had to do, and I do still miss them but what helped in remembering them was where they are now, with Jesus! They are not in pain, they are not sad, in fact I would say that they are probably happier than most here today. I remember all the times His presence was so awesome and real and the feeling was one of peace joy and happiness. I remember all the accounts of those that had near death experiences and most did not want to come back. We get upset over the fact that we will not see them anymore at least here. But the truth is we will see them in heaven and know them. So if you think or say to yourself they are on vacation it may help. Jesus said of some that actually died that they were asleep I have always wondered about this.

I am sorry for your loss.  Your brother is in a better place now, which should be come comfort.

As for the eulogy, I can only recommend you write it down in entirety, use a larger font than normal to print it out, practice it a few times and then plan to read it.  With the emotions at such a high level, it's easy to forget what you wanted to say and how you wanted to say it.  Just reading the eulogy will keep you on track and also keep you from rambling.  I did this 3 weeks ago at my father-in-law's funeral and if I did not have it to read, I would not have been able to do it.

Prayers of strength and healing for your family.
