VERY Northern Illinois

« on: June 24, 2015, 08:20:07 PM »

I'll head over to the Classifieds and post a WTB, but I just wanted to say how much I missed this board.
Last 3 years have been rough, lost my bike (both Valks),  my wife (I miss the bikes a lot more),  my company and my job...on top of that I sustained an injury that had me down for over 9 months.
Why am I boring you all with this, to say this -
When I rode, even if I never met you I saw a Valkyrie everywhere I went..Texas, Florida, Georgia, Wisconsin...now I've settled back home in Illinois and I'll be in the market for a Fat Lady once again.
I've missed the ride, I've missed the board...even though I was mainly a lurker everything I learned about my former (and future) Valks, I learned here. Nothing against Harleys, they make a beautiful bike or other Hondas, I've had a VTX and old-school Aero back in the day, but to me nothing and I mean nothing compared to riding my Valkyrie.
I got a few more grays now than I had then, I like my new job, I'll miss my wife (unless she walks in front of my car), but I LOVE the Valk....
Now I just gotta find one
New house, new job (new to me) Valk!
Now I just gotta catch up on 2-3 years worth of posts!!

There's five or so interstates on ebay that should get you stirred up. Cool

Markus . Where in Illinois. I live north/west of Chi-town. If serious about an interstate , contact atticrat , I believe he is putting one together. His bikes are firstclass.

congrats on starting over and landing another job.  Good luck on your Valk I/S search, they are out there and not sure if sold or not, but someone had a nice I/S on this board for sale at a decent price as well.  Check the classifieds here first.

Yeah..I've started the hunt.
Gonna take me a couple of months...I'm on an all-cash basis. I've seen a couple on ebay and one or two within a 3-4 hour ride of me here.
Da Prez, I'm in the Naperville/Aurora area now, but moving up to around the Grayslake area...waaaayyyy north in Illinois...about 20 mins for the WI border (I can probably smell the cheese), and I'm serious, so I'll check with atticrat.
If I can, I'd prefer to buy from a member.
Soon as the house is settled, I'm rollin...

Hi Markus, welcome back. I myself am am a lurker who  can relate.  I did keep my bike though, and have never regretted  it.   Since you are staring over, and the valk is an older bike, my advice is by what you like, no pressures.  If you want an interstate, get one, or a standard, get one. What I'm trying to say is there are multiple bikes for sale, don't settle.  keep your knees in the breeze.

Marcus , I am 15 minutes from Grayslake. We moved to Round Lake in 1950. I am still in the area.
  We live near Crystal Lake/Cary.

There is a clean, low mileage I/S down here in Southern Colo. I have seen this bike, and she is a beaut.

Markus, I don't know if you would want to drive or fly all the way to Louisiana but I have three Interstates to choose from with various degrees of options. PM me if interested.  Gary
