Here in Minnesota, one can loose their license for doing 100 MPH. I wonder what one will loose for doing 200 MPH over the speed limit?

If you can afford that car, you can afford enough lawyers to make any traffic ticket issues go away, I'm sure... Edit - Looked it up, Price tag is $1,200,000.00

King Air's are a great airplane, but, they can be a handful.

As the only defense counsel for all USAF in Turkey (at 16 locations with three main convening authorities) the commanding two star made his C12 (king air) available to me for travel (when he wasn't using it). And his pilot (capt) was a friend. Took many cross county flights, and even got to fly it straight and level for a half hour (I kept it straight, but lost 1K feet.... don't confuse me with the instruments, I'll just fly the horizon). Even got to smuggle the wife aboard once. A couple landings in high cross winds were more than a little exciting. Beat the hell out of sitting around a hanger half the day waiting to sit on the floor or web seats of C141s and C130s (they didn't let me fly those... ) Back to the thread: I like fast cars, but they just get me in trouble.

Nothing wrong with flying 'the horizon'. Thats how I teach primary students. I want them looking out the windshield at the horizon along with maneuvers performed in relation to the horizon. It doesn't too long to be able to go along nice and 'straight and level'.

While I agree, riding in or driving that car would make a kick ass ride, please enlighten me as to just where the groceries are supposed to go? A few years ago, I did the Richard Petty Driving Experience, it was almost as much fun as sex but lasted a tad bit longer and was over with way to quickly. Yeah, I know. But, let's not go there.

The good thing about flying in Turkey was there was NO civilian air, none. If it wasn't commercial or military it wasn't flying. Almost everywhere you went, the sky was entirely empty.... except for mountains. Flight plans were filed, but you could do about anything you wanted (except the USAF is kind of particular about any kind of foolishness).
The guy who took me in the back seat of an F16B was the Wing Commander, so he did whatever he wanted (please don't puke or pass out or pull the little yellow handle between your legs).

I've always been a drag racer. A number of years ago I taught a fella to fly whose son worked for Petty Experience. So, we got to go at a good price. Even met the King, nice guy. You know, going around in circles can be a lot of fun.

Yup, that's why I continue to post in political threads... More on topic, yes, after doing a few laps as a passenger at Texas Motor Speedway I did gain a lot more respect for those go fast turn left guys. I didn't expect it, I totally blacked out from the G's on the first banked turn, after that one I knew to bare down on my chest and managed to not black out, just got really bad tunnel vision.

Is there a reason he hit the rev limiter in the first three gears??
Is there a reason he took as long to shift as it took to go through the first 2 gears??
Probably could have gotten a couple of tenths faster if they tried.

I never flew one, but I almost set one on fire once. I was doing a high power run following some maintenance and while I was at a fairly high power setting, one of the fuel lines failed and sprayed fuel all over the engine and most of the wing. That was exciting. Never learned to like those braided stainless steel fuel lines after that. -RP

Before I got down to Pensacola (for Navy NFO training), I spent about 6 months in St Louis at the Govt Plant rep Office @ McDonnell Douglass (where they built F15's, F18s , AV8Bs, and various naval missiles). part of this was getting to take 3 flights in the back seat of the first 2 F15Bs (2 seaters). Never got to supersonic, but takeoffs from Lambert field were fun - Afterburners on, flying, gear up, and nose up - to 8500 feet before the end of the runway... the same runways they used for commercial flights...
as for my training, I got as far as doing lowlevels in a Cessna Citation - 30 minutes at 500 ft AGL / 300 Knots really slows down time...

Thats the way I instruct, and, as I said, primary students. Reference is to the horizon. Most of the instruction I give is instrument in actual IMC. Now, the Patsy Cline crash happened because of a non-instrument rated pilot flying into IMC therefore not knowing what he was doing. They never saw that rock.
