My 21 y/o nephew came out to the farm to help this summer. Yesterday I asked him to get me a new lock washer from the bolt bin. He was gone a long time and when I asked what took him so long as the bins are marked and I knew there were some in it, he said with a long face "I couldn't find any cause these are all broke"! It's going to be a long summer...

Years ago, a history professor friend told me of a young lady in one of his COLLEGE history classes.  She interrupted his lecture to ask "The United States fought a war with JAPAN?!  Who won?"

Sigh.

These videos are entertaining to watch, I agree.  But I'd love to know what percentage of those asked actually did know the answers.   The video leaves the impression that none of the American citizens had any idea.  As disgusted as I am about the quality of education, I find it hard to believe that none knew.

And I had no idea that Jesse Ventura signed the Declaration of Independence!

Well, the Declaration was signed in 1994, or was it 1984?

Interesting that we are celebrating our Independence from the South at the same time we are decimating the history of said South, isn't it?

Number of stars on our flag ?

Heck I can remember when our leader said he had campaigned in 57 states. So what else can we expect from the general masses.

been to 57, one left to go?  Alaska and Hawaii he would have liked to visit but staff wouldn't allow it.  Does that add up to 59 then?

I guess it would depend on whether one uses new or old math.  Grin
