Ride Safe, Be Kind

Earth

« on: July 14, 2015, 07:48:11 AM »

Good Morning All,

Well, today is my 40th birthday.  I'm currently laid up with a broken ankle (slipped going down my 3 stairs on the way to work last week) so I've had some time to reflect.  It's true what my father always said, that time moves faster the older you get.  Seems like only a moment ago, I turned 15 and got my learner's permit.  Now there's white streaks in my beard and yes, I must admit...I'm getting old...er.

Looking back, it's fair to say that I have my share of regrets but all in all, I am thankful for the life that I have.  I am pleased with the direction of my journey.

I am happy that the rage that was such a dominant part of me throughout my teenage years and my 20's has passed.  Once, I sought out fights and confrontations and I have the scars, both physical and emotional, to remind me of darker days.  Now, I avoid conflict whenever possible.  I prefer my peaceful existence.

There is a beautiful woman in my bed, a good dog asleep at my feet, a hell of a motorcycle in my garage, my health and that of my loved ones is good and I love what I do for a living, although it will never make me rich.

In short, I have everything that I've ever wanted.

That realization is the best birthday present possible.

Ride Safe,

Alien

Alien, sounds like you have it all together in your life. It is good to reflect on ones life and then to recognize all ones blessings. From now on, every time you face adversity, you need to bring these thoughts to the fore and let them guide your response to your problem. I wish I could do that every time but I find that there is still a little fire in the belly. Take care

Alien, you are wise. Some never are satisfied with life. Hold that attitude!

Happy 40th and many more!

happy Birthday,, I never had that realization till I turned 50. But most importantly I had it.
My take on life is , "I may never have a ton of money, but I will always have the things that money cannot buy" therefore I am a very rich man.

Sounds like a county song. Lol.  Found the one it made me think of. Lucky Man by Montgomery Gentry- I think  some of the lyrics

My old trucks still running good
My ticker's ticking like they say it should
I got supper in the oven, a good woman's loving
And even my bad days ain't that bad
Yeah, I'm a lucky man
I'm a lucky lucky man

I wish I was 40! It's a great thing to be happy with what you have instead of hoping the next thing brings happiness. Maturity and wisdom come with age. For too many age arrives alone.

One always seams to reflect on milestone birthdays.  This keeps happening at 50, 60 and 70...  You have a very good attitude, many go through a mid-life crices at 40.  On your Birthday, just remember you are not a year or a decade older, just a day...

40, lets see? What? Hell, I'm closer to the end than I am the beginning! Happy Bday Alien!  I remember when I used to hear: "If you have your health you have everything". I used to think, WTH. Don't ever forget that, it's true, take care of yourself!

Congrats as well.  Turning 40 I soon realized I was not young anymore and slowing down some,  just about the time I quit growing beards in the winter since was turning gray and now some 5 years past that gray mustache and hair as well - darn hereditary genetics on my mom's side of the family.   Cry  At least I still have my hair I guess, not loosing it yet?

Hear is to another 40+ more -  cooldude

By the way,  we needs PICS to prove you have a beautiful women beside you - just kidding.  2funny
