Just finished watching the first episode on Netflix, seems really well done all around.  Anyone made it through the whole series?  Only asking because I've started other series only to see the storyline fizzle halfway through.

I have watched all the episodes, and think they keep me pretty interested. Although the storyline stays the same with the building of the railroad, there is a lot of changes in the characters over time. Id say its worth watching, there have been some really good episodes that I wouldn't mind watching again. Flint

Same here, the wife and me have watched from the beginning. I'd say it was worth it.

I've watched the whole series. Most are ok but it reminds me a little of a 'soap opera'.
Lots of main characters getting killed off and some that seem to get killed but come back.

I've watched every episode from the beginning. I must enjoy it or I wouldn't have done that. The current season is the finale and will be of fewer episodes than the others.

This is exactly my take.  It starts with a wonderful premise of US history of transcontinental railroad, then gets sidetracked into little soap operas about the human weaknesses of greed, lust, pride, avarice, yada. (not much different from the Walking Dead)

When they hang the nice church lady for shooting the very bad man-murderer (while he is trying to kill the main actor), that is just too much soap opera BS.

I did not watch it during weekly season, but have picked up some recent all day marathons.

I like it. Its pretty true to history.
Of course it will have the soapy tint to keep the masses interested.
Very well done with engaging caracters.

Well if your looking for something. Bansh HBO or Cinemax? I watch it on firestick (Genesis) not sure which one. Just watched an episode where the sheriff just blew a guy away with a shotgun fist shot hit him in right side took a chunk out and second hit the left side of his face blew it off and left an eyeball dangling.  How they did that scene I have no idea but the scene was so real, I was speachless. The series starts with a gunfight in a small town bar were 3 dudes shoot it out and all end up dead. They get thrown in the local swamp and the series starts. Got all the Characters, Ex cons, roge indians, gangsters, corupt military and (name escapes me) rogue religious crazy guy from (Penn.  group that runs around in carriages with no electricity or modern conveniences).  I want to say pennsylvania dutch, but that is not it. Oh and a couple of bad ass females. Smiley

if you like a lot of violence Hell on wheels has it.  Decapitations, lots of shootings, stabbings, drownings, eye plucking by an Irish dude and then sticking it in his mouth. Now that's ingenious!  I guess that's what it takes to keep it interesting.  They even have General US Grant as part of the plots and sub plots.  Interesting since he was supposedly in it for the money but actually had to write his memoirs to get enough money for his family to live on.  The Church of Latter Day Saints comes in for its share too.

I'll say one thing. With the exception of one main character, not much was spent on wardrobe but a lot on water for mud. Grin Grin

Looks like I continue on with it.  I did notice it was gritty as Hell (pun intended), Solo1 I hope that's not the only thing that keeps it interesting.  I thought the sets were great and writing and acting was good, so if they can keep the plots engaging I'm in for the long haul.  I recognized but couldn't place the actor playing the a-hole owner of the RR construction company, then it came to me he was on one of the Star Trek series I didn't follow.  Thanks, fellers.

I started watching it when it started and stayed with it quite awhile, but, got bored with it and stopped.  May start it again.

There have other series that we have gotten hooked on and couldn't stop watching them till they finished. [ Bloodline, damages, house of cards, breaking bad]

That would be Colm Meaney.  Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

I was an extra in the pilot episode.  I've never had AMC, but someone who did recorded it for me to watch.  I was brilliant at walking from point A to point B.
