It killed that many at first but there will be more and even people that don't work there. The PPE that the FF were using were probably as useless as pockets on underware. This will have a long time effect on that entire area, people, animals and the eco system will suffer for a long time.

Next spring's runoff will take care of the Las Animas' current problem, as long as the new containment/decontamination pools hold at the mine site.

So all the poisons and heavy metals will just miraculously wash away?

To become someones problem downstream?

In the meantime what happens to the vegetation, fish, animals and humans who have ingested the water?

It's called a food chain.

In my observation and opinion, you are staring at your future in the face.  Eventually much of that run off will end up in our own back yards, in our foods, clothing, and products manufactured over there.  I want to see people, form their own opinion, about the mindset in that whole scenario over there.  I don’t want to sound like a racist or being prejudice towards anyone.  But would you hire someone to does major work on your house if they were known to cause major damage or even create hazardous conditions for you.  That is the way I see it!!   I look at China’s track record for potentially irreversible disastrous consequences globally, they don’t seem to care, and they don’t think ahead and appears not to have respect for life.  Specially thing s that effect us, now think back of a few, using a form of antifreeze for sweeteners, bad toothpaste, pet food, toys with lead, clothing with dangerous chemicals infused into them, just a few.  Before my job made its way to China, I had the opportunity to train the Chinese people to do my job over there. Now these guys were not just common on the street people.  In some cases they seem very loyal, and seemed to be intelligent people.  But in my observation, they didn’t seem to get the fundamentals of the instructions, and seemed confused and clueless.  For instance, we let them do some hands on experience, We gave them a SawZaw  to cut a 1”  tubing cross brace out, and let them  formulate the own method for the job. It should have taken about 5min, may be at the max 15min. Observing in the background it was taking much longer, to cut, they began the take a turns, cutting the tube,(there were four of them) after about 20 min, them on their own, I stepped in and seen the blade was wiped out, no teeth on it. I then replaced the blade and 3 min tube was cut. Understand we handled compressed explosives in our job. You get my point!! Got a whole lot of education but don’t have the foggiest clue how to use it.  That mindset maybe, is why, in my opinion they had that explosion. Just my experience with them!  I have not resentment for them, I just don’t trust them.
