Heat and humidity and very cold temperatures make my breathing difficult at times-BUT NOT all the time. So I went down to my local D M V and got the form for a disabled parking permit. Filled out the permit and dropped it off at my V A Doctors office. Week and a half after I drop the form off her Nurse-nice lady B T W-calls me and informs me being as I'm still riding my M/C the Doctor WIL NOT authorize my parking permit? W T H and W T F-over! Sooooo after I git calmed down I go back to the D M V office and ask the nice lady-she used to be a secretary where I drove truck once-Is there a law in Missouri that prevents me from getting the disabled permit BECAUSE I ride a M/C?? No-because this office has issued disabled plates for M/Cs! Again-W T H-over!. So today I'm riding around paying some monthly bills and I decide to swing by the Doctors office. I check in with the receptionist ex zoomy who will retire in December-damn it-and he tells me what the parameters are-oxygen test and if I'm at or below 88% they put me on oxygen and the disabled permit SHOULD be a lock! Took the test-93% resting-couple laps around the inside of the building I go to 87% oxygen and Nurse Sheila says THAT'S all I have to see! The order for my O2 is in filled out another disabled parking permit form and I SHOULD know something in about 2 weeks. The idiocy comes in where my Doctor NEVER informed me of the oxygen test. cursed gubmint red tape! And before ANYONE asks-I only intend to use that permit when I REALLY need it. If I do get the permit I can see the first time I park in a handicapped spot with the permit on the Phatt Ghurl-What and Why ZACKLY you doin parking here yer on a M/C?? RIDE SAFE.

Wizard got lots of strange looks, especially from cops, when he'd pull into the handicapped parking spot on his bike. More than once he explained that he couldn't walk far, but he could sit for miles.
After a while it became fun seeing if he'd get "caught"

Thank you o2s. My oxygen has been low ever since I started getting radiation for my cancer....30 treatments ago. I can't hardly move ten steps without having to take a break. I even have a cane to help me walk now.
I can sit for miles and miles and hours and hours and be perfectly fine....it's just whenever I need to exert myself now. It's starting to suck living in a two story townhome.
Think I'll go check out the local DMV to see what they tell me.

So does TJ here in Florida, I used to kid him about his HC tag. I've never questioned him as to what his HC was, none of anyone's business. But I got a big clue when I learned he lives in Lake Flacid.....sorry, meant Placid. Geez, I get that wrong every time. Good man, he's a big dude and my Rita is 95 lbs. soaking wet. Last time he visited here a couple years back he gave her a hug and she disappeared.

I don't know anything about Fl. law as pertains to the H C thing. I do KNOW that it's a good place to start. I'm thinking a Medical Doctor most likely needs to be involved. All that was used to determine my oxygen levels was an electronic dohickey-medical term-on my right index finger. When I say electronic-flashing lights and a digital readout. Very Star Trek thing. My oxygen supplier called yesterday and will be here Tuesday. Also supposed to get one of the electronic dohickeys. I KNOW some folks have received less than stellar care from the V A-BUT they are taking care of this old fart right here. My local facility and the John Pershing Hospital in Poplar Bluff Mo. have given me-I M H O-excellent care. I KNOW retail prices of some of the meds I'm on are EXPENSIVE to say the least. I'm thinking if I DID NOT have the V A I'd be in the poorhouse just paying for meds. B F-I hope you get the help you need. When you say-runnin out of breath-I KNOW what yer talkin bout. RIDE SAFE.

The original cost me nothing.
But a replacement, when I lost the original cost me 5 bucks.
There are a lot of M/C handicap plates running around on the Phat Gurhl.
F6gal's husband, Michael. has a Handicap plate on his motor.
My state won't issue a HC for a motor. If they do, they take your motor endorsement.
I lost my motor endorsement due to me using a walker. Went in the 1st of the month to renew my license. Using a walker and had to take a driving test. I got my copy of the license and I said my motor endorsement is missing. She said, you bring a motorcycle down and take a driving test and we will reissue the endorsement.
Since I've sold the 2 Trikes I just let it slide down the sewer.

Go to your States D M V website. I'm thinkin they should have a price list available. I'm going for the placard as I have 2 vehicles involved here. My ex B I L only has the placard and if we went to a Royals or a Cards game in my vehicle the placard was in my windshield. RIDE SAFE.

R J-I asked basically the same question while at the D M V. Til my current license expires in Feb 2021 I'm good to go. Got such a kick outa my nurse after the oxygen test-she said to NOT ride my M/C while on oxygen! Said I'd see what I could do. My brother is already figurin for oxygen carryon my lady. I'm thinking after I met you you are on oxygen full time. At this point in time I'm not on it full time-I hope. I remember you talking about how the "tether" could NOT be lengthened much-at least not for a long distance ride. WHAT is different in us as riders?? I've had friends with broken hands in casts-ribs taped-legs in a cast-neck braces in use-one dude with a broken arm-all back on a scoot and-RIDNG. With the cast braces ace bandages etc etc. I do KNOW for a fact if I'm feelin a little outa sorts a ride do make me feel better! Met a gal couple years ago on a Harley tour missing her left leg between the hip and the knee-riding her specially modified H/D trike. Soon as I get more information on what's happening on my H/C placard I'll post again. If anyone here in our community is thinking about a H/C placard or tag-start at your D M V or their website. And I'm thinking a Medical Doctor most likely NEEDS to be nvolved in the process. I KNOW for a fact a Doctor NEEDS to b involved here in Missouri. RIDE SAFE.

I should mention one other factoid. I was diagnosed with C O P D when I was still driving over the road-18 wheeler. My oxygen test at the time I was diagnosed with C O P D was in the low 90% range after exertion-tread mill. Had I gone on oxygen I would NOT have been able to be D O T certified again-medical certificate-which you need to drive big truck. You have to be recertified every two years. The last 4 years of my driving career I was on one year certificates due to blood pressure issues. The other item that disqualifies you from a D O T Medical certificate is needle dependent diabetes. There may be changes I'm NOT aware of but I've been out of a big truck over 6 and a half years. I will say this-if your still smoking-QUIT-NOW! Health issues in later years just AIN'T worth it. Don't believe me-ask the next person you see on oxygen HOW they got there. Most of them on oxygen have been known to relate to people so others don't eff up. RIDE SAFE.

Having disabled plate on a motorcycle isn't difficult here in MI, because once you're deemed as disabled and have the placard, you just take your placard into the DMV when it's time to renew your license plates and you will be issued new HC plates.
The bigger issue is finding a DMV office (or SoS) that has a person there that knows how the law works. Many DMV workers are oblivious as to how HC plates are issued and how many plates one person may have.
And to further complicate matters,....try getting a HC vanity plate (still fighting that one).

Another complication is rookie cops that claim that the State does not issue HC M/C plates, and claims that mine are fraudulent!
I've taken those tickets to court and beat every one,.......of course I don't mind educating those in so called "authority positions".
