Since I purchased my phat gurl and have been part of this board, I am continually amazed at the great responses towards the various problems, concerns, etc. that I read daily. I have myself posted a few with results second to none.
So, I have felt some clutch slipping for some time, 3rd and 4th gears, around the 3700 rpm range, the engine tachs up, and no go. This tells me the clutch needs some attention. However this I can deal with it's the clutch, or I should say the slave/master clutch portion that has me frustrated. A few weeks back as I was traveling through town, squeeze in clutch and bike comes to halt, however I can feel that is it not fully disengaged. This happens several times since and I have been reading this board for similar issues with outcomes. So my caka topper, Friday I fill her up, and as I shift into first she lunges forward and stalls. WOW, didn't expect that. No clutch at all. So I work it several times, restart and this time kick her into first as I am slightly rolling. She went, and had little to no clutch for the first few minutes. Luckily the ride home has only 4 red lights, and one I was through. Once rolling down the super slab, the clutch seemed to get easier and the other lights had no issues. Got home, parked in garage and thinking back about previous read posts, gotta bleed the line. Done. I popped slave resivoir cap, added Dot 4 brake fluid, bled the line. Also tied open the clutch overnight to allow any air left in to escape. All was well, I thought.
Come this morning, I go out and squeeze the clutch lever, it feels great! Let's ride! Wrong! I started her up, squeezed clutch, dropped into first she lunges again and dies. Ok, further maintenance required. I completely drain resivoir, pulling some brown gunk out of it, and cleaned it all up. I unhooked banjo fitting bled the resivoir and reapplied banjo fitting back on. I also re-bled the lower line portion until I seen nice clear fluid escaping. Still no clutch lever. So I bled banjo fitting, at least 8 times. Doesn't seem like any air in their, however I still can not squeeze my clutch lever in more than half way. As I squeeze it, I can bleed from the lower bleeder or the banjo and the lever engages completely, however once they are retightened up, I work the handle a few times to get back to only half squeezeability.
ANY AND ALL help here is greatly apreciated!!

Thanks in advance for your insight and wisdom. I have ordered my Clymer manual, and will be getting a master rebuild kit this week. It is the master slave cylinder that is leaking ever so slightly, I will fix that in the next few weeks, just looking to ride in the interim.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll get it fixed, especially with help from here.

I've only been present with one Valkyrie whose clutch rivets had started
to come loose... Two-Tone-Valk's... the freaky lever action, and maybe
some other stuff you describe, was happening to him too... bleeding
helped none... if that turns out to be  your problem, you'll have to take the
clutch pack out through the back of the motor...

Seems like mine rivets broke.  I could only bleed from the bottom up to work.

It sounds like the rivets let loose, if they did, do not operate the bike because you will destroyed the clutch basket, it makes the job alot more expensive and harder to do...once the rivets get between the plates it won't allow the clutch handle to go any farther then half way....the rod in the slave clutch will not go full distance, therefore it shorts the throw of the clutch lever...

Almost a definitive symptom of failure of the rivets in the clutch damper plate.
