I sold the black Tourer, well its not that simple.  Here's the story:

I initially bought the bike for a friend of a friend.  That guy backed out.  However, the friend liked the bike so much he wanted it to replace his high mileage '97 that he was thinking was not going to take him far enough down the road (this guy rides a lot!)  So, we made a deal he gave me half of what I was looking for plus his old bike.  Now, I can either sell it as it is a running bike with lots of goodies on it, or part it out.  Its just not someones forever bike due to having just under 300,000 miles on it.  It runs strong and looks good and would be a good daily rider for some time just not a long long time.

Now heres the thing, I hate parting out bikes, I did it before when there wasn't much choice because the bike was so damaged.  This bike is in fair shape.  You wont win any trophys with it, but it is a good looking and good running machine for its age and miles.

About the bike...

It is a '97 green and cream Tourer with a like new windshield, really nice Mustang seats, Kury highway pegs, Honda Luggage rack, Trailer Hitch, Kury tranny covers, Center stand and a few other tid bits that you will see when you look close.  The saddlebags and tins are in very nice shape and the tires are Avon Cobras with many more miles left on them.

I will post pictures in a couple days as soon as I can clean her up a bit and get some photos taken.

I already did the math and at below normal pricing (I hate scalping fellow VRCC'ers) the bike will bring around $3,500 in parts.

I will put it on the classifieds for $2,800 and that will be rather firm.  I can go down but it would be at the consequence of removing some of the goodies mentioned.

I know this is a high mileage bike that many would not want to touch.  However, If you want  a  Valkyrie as a first bike to get your learning done or just a nice daily driver for a while, you wont waste your money.  Even if the engine blows a week after you get it,  I promise, you will recover your money easily by selling the fine parts on this thing and you will still be happy, this is a no risk deal.

Well, I posted this so you all can think about it, look on the classifieds for the add and pictures in a few days.

If it doesn't sell I will be forced to part it out my self and I will make the $3,500 or so, but Id rather see it get ridden for a while longer.  I said that to say this.  If you need some green and Cream body parts, Transmission covers, hitch....etc...be ready and get your pm in quick because I will sell to the first to chime in in the event no one wants the bike as a bike.

Fair warning I will probably giver her a try at the Eglin AFB "lemon lot" so it you are down that way it will probably be there in a couple weeks or so.

I hope you all ride safe........pictures and an add soon.

Sounds like a fair price for a 1500 Valk from that year based on how you described it.

I go by the lemon lot once or twice a week.  I'll check it out whenever you put the bike on there Jeff.

Might make a nice bobber valk.

I would sell the saddle bags ($1000) and windshield ($300?) plus any other extra parts and then sell the plan jane Valkyrie dirt cheap. It might be easy to sell for less money witih the mileage on it.

That's very close to my plan B, but for now we shall see what happens as a Tourer

Well, I am happily a one Valkyrie owner again.  Sold the green monster today.  Between that one and the black tourer, I am looking forward to riding my trouble free red and white!

All in all I did make around $100 on all the transactions.  However I would not have even started the adventure if I thought Id only make that much.  And it was an adventure, and I got to meet another Valkyrie rider.  The guy that bought it is not a VRCC member, he knows about it though, just not interested.  He has another Valkyrie and has never done anything to it.  Maybe I will teach him a few things.

The best thing about the adventure is that two Valkyries that could have had bleak futures are now safely the hands of new owners that appreciate what they have.

My mission is complete, signing off......

It's nice to hear of them surviving instead of parted out.  cooldude
