Bruno, my goofy companion for the past 12 years, was put down earlier today  :'(

Took him to the vet a week ago Thursday for a 'renew' of his Prednazone script, for fall allergies.  During his 'Well Pet Exam' the Doc found a very large (4" X 7") mass in his lower abdomen (was not detected in April).  Ultrasound and a few X-rays proved it to be an inoperable tumor...

Doc said that it was just a matter of time before it grew large enough to prevent him from relieving himself because it would push on his bowls and urinary tract.  We decided to keep him comfortable, and to wait for 'the' time...

My oldest (Alex) got married the following Saturday, so I kept this to myself for the past week.  Just spoke to my youngest (Austin) about it yesterday, and Bruno took a big turn for the worse, over night  Undecided .

The rabbits in heaven better watch out...  Bruno has now joined Copper, Smokey, and Brutus in the hunt  Wink

Better days...  Chillin' on the deck...

RIP my friend  angel

Too bad, sorry to hear this. They become members of the family. They bring so much to life.
I make caskets and bury them under a tree in the back yard. Labs are good dogs.

My deepest condolences to you and your family, Steve. The only thing worse than losing a pet is having to make the decision to say goodbye.

My wife is a Vet Tech so I hear the stories every week about the sadness displayed by the owners of pets and fully understand the bonds built between man and beast and how they parallel so close to human connections. I can honestly say one of the only times I have seen my father shed a tear is when he had to make the decision to put down his best friend ( Bobo the Boston Terrier ). My condolences to the family of Bruno.

.One of my buddies is nearing the end of her run. We got her the same year I had my heart bypass surgery. When I came home from the hospital she was my constant companion and sleep buddy.  Now past 16 years old with poor eyesight and I think completely deaf she is still a lovable and resourceful part of the family.

I understand your grief, we lost 3 of our babies this past year. One was 19 yrs, one 14 year and the other was 13. One to cancer the other two to old age. I'm still grieving for them, so sudden and hurtful.
Fortunately, I still have a JRT and bulldog mix.
Hope you are doing well in this time of sadness, remember the good times and may you find another friend soon.

We had to say goodbye a year ago to Hap, our yellow lab and constant companion of 13 years.  They are treasures of the soul.  Labs are just the nicest.

My condolence Black Dog.  Very tough thing to go through.  I think dogs are God's greatest gift to us and their is no substitute for the unconditional love, loyalty, and companionship they bring to us.
Willowpad is correct and all good dogs do go to heaven and thank goodness for that.
I just lost my Golden Companion Rush back in August and miss him every day.

Sorry to hear of your loss Steve.

I know you will have another puppy before too long.

I let my kids get the animal and then when they need a dog sitter, Grandpa is there and waiting.

Sending my condolenses to you on your loss.

Than never to have loved at all.

I wonder if they wrote this for dogs, it hurts so much when they go. Sorry for the loss of your friend.  Cry

Sorry to hear brother.  The loss of a fur friend is rough indeed.  When I lost Bart a couple of months ago, I sat in the bathroom at the staff house and let the emotions out.  Cry

But it was for a reason, because now, two other rescue fur children have found a home with us.

I am soooooooooooo sorry for your loss Steve - my heart goes out to you!  Good looking chap as well!!!!

Dogs are truly God's special gift to us.  My dog of 16 years had to be put down last year and not a day goes by that I don't think about him.  As you know, they become more human than dog.  It is difficult for a family to deal with the loss of a loving, loyal dog.   Out hearts go out to you.  I pray that when I get to heaven's gate, my dog Stinky will be there to greet me.  I pray the same for you.

They love without condition. They are true and loyal....never judging us. And when it's time, they have a way of telling us. They are brave and stoic. And when they go they take a huge chunk of our heart with them. As I sit here with my Maya at my side on the sofa, and Big Bear occupying all of the love seat, my heart goes out to you and your family.

As I've stated before on similar posts, if dogs don't go to heaven, then there is no heaven.  I am truly sorry for your loss.  i hope the thoughts of the happy times relieve your pain.
