So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

Covington, TN

« on: October 08, 2015, 03:43:40 PM »

As some may know, I transport vehicles and other "cargo" all over the region (and sometimes the nation).   Have an opportunity to pick up a vehicle in Pittsburg and bring it back to Kentucky but, it's simply not profitable unless I either find a back haul or, another vehicle needing to go the same direction (0r preferably, both).

Regardless, just thought I'd ask and see if anyone has something needed to go towards Pittsburg or back west from that vicinity.   One never knows if one doesn't ask.

Hey Rams. I met you down at Madison last month and met to talk to you about your business but never did.  If you have your own authority you can sign up for a place called Truckstop.com.  Back in the day up until 2009 I ran what is called Hot Shots and did as good as anybody in this venue.  We would expedite at really good rates freight out to where ever and I would use this site to bring ltl freight back to our area at a success rate of 80 percent.  That way my drivers were home usually 2 to 3 days during week and always on the weekend.   Now I really never got involved with autos however you said other cargo.   Truckstop.com at that time charged 35 dollars a month.  Some use Uship.  I never did their rates were ridiculously low and I did not want to spend all day bidding.  If I can be of more help let me know.

Chuck,
I remember the bike.   At my age, I'm lucky to remember the way home.  Wink

I retired a while back.   Being retired gives one a whole new attitude as it pertains to "work".    I agree with the UShip statement, don't even go there any longer.    I only take opportunities that interest me now.   There are places that I still like to go and people I still like to see.     Offer me an opportunity to get back to Kansas and see how fast I load up and head out.   cooldude

When the right opportunity comes around, I go.   Other than that, I just play.    I've already given up on making a fortune doing this.  Wink

Well Rams it sounds like you have your priorities in order and good for you.  Me I just stay with smaller equipment cargo van and 16 foot box truck almost exclusively for Honda and that keeps me hoppin about as much as I want to these days and 90 percent is with in 100 miles just out and back in four hours.  In last couple of days I have been approached by 2 different guys who want to do some of what I use to or expand what I am doing and bring them on board.  Right now I am thinking no but never know.

As I said, I'm always open to an opportunity, it just depends on whether or not I need the cash for something extra or it's a location or goes through a location I'd like to visit.   Couple of years ago, I accepted a transport just because it got me close to a large Valkyrie gathering in Texas.   That haul cost me a few hundred bucks but, got me to where I wanted to go and let me visit with a bunch of great Valkyrie riders.    The Pittsburg opportunity would have done something similar to that.    Maybe next time.

I've heard rumor of that but have no first hand knowledge.    Maybe you should enlighten me?   Evil   I'm always willing to learn something from an experienced man of the world.

DOUG!!!!

Doing just fine my friend.   Had a couple of rough spots and speed bumps since we last visited but, overall, still kicking and having a grand ole time.   I'm healthier and better looking since the last time I saw you and your lovely lady.

Hope all is well with you and the family.   Next time you pass through, let's do something even if it ain't right.  Wink
