Several weeks ago I had brake trouble on a ride and Detn8r step up with a set of pads and Gordon helped out with garage and tools to get the job done. Thanks again guys. Well I had my opportunity to help out this past Friday. I pulled into a gas station just outside meridian Mississippi. I noticed a fella leaning on the seat of his HD Ultra Classic and after filling up I parked beside him and noticed he was wearing a USMC hat. I shook his hand and thanked him for his service. He said thanks for the recognition that he was a retired Gunny and to call him the same. We talked for a bit and I could tell something was bothering him I noticed his tag was from Wyoming, and I ask wif he was headed home or to somewhere else. He said he was headed home from a reunion with some buddies that retired from the Marines also in Florida but that he was stuck there and I asked why he was stuck and he said some sumbitch had stolen his Coat off the seat of his Bike at his last stop when he had gone to the bathroom and that his wallet that had all his money and CC's in it and he was waiting for a call from a freind for some help but friend was 1400 miles away. Well after talking another minute of so I walked in the store and got a bottle of water but the whole time I was in line I couldnt quit thinking about the stranded Marine in his 70's out in the parking lot. When I go back out I walked back over to him and ask if there was anything I could do to help and he said not really and would get in touch with his friend. He shook my hand and told me to be safe I told him the same but couldn't bring myself to leave so I reached in my pocket and walked back over and said I know you said there wasn't anything I could do to help but I can Buy you some gas and handed him a hundred dollar bill told him I didn't know how far it would get him but would get him closer to home anyway. He was about to tear up and ask for my address so he could send it back when he got home and I said Nope didn't want it back and for him to help someone down the road he shakes my hand again and thanks me and tells me to be safe. Now normally I wouldn't hand out money to a stranger but I felt he was 100% truthful and didn't ask for any help. But when I did help he almost cried. I was one of those moments that makes you happy to have been able to help out a stranger that has helped all of us without ever meeting any of us

Sometimes you just have to go with your ability to judge. Helping strangers seems to be rare these days.
Thank you for "Passing it Forward!"

way to go, but not so sure too many of us have 100 dollar bills in our wallet to hand out? I'd have a few 20's, but that is about it. Even a 20 would get him gas and a free lunch. Something is better than nothing. Is rare in today's society to have someone stranded come over and help out or at least ask you if you need any help.

Many people believe Angels walk among us and I share that thought as I have survived some situations I probably should not have escaped. That day you were his Angel for sure and I am sure you were blessed to have the opportunity.

I wasn't posting this for kudos but thanks. I just thought I would share a moment I had that made me feel good. That $100 couldn't have made me any happier in any way. So the next time you are in a place to help please do so

So the next time you are in a place to help please do so I found a way recently. Every time I'm in a restaurant and a cop is there, with his buddies or his family, I call the waitress over and tell her to bring me their bill. I also tell her not to tell them who paid their bill. I've had occasions where the manager decided to split it with me also. Helps out the people who risk their lives to keep me safe and reminds them the average citizen is behind them.

Sometimes you do something nice and wonder if anyone will be appreciative. In church they have coffee you can buy for a dollar. Now I walked up get a cup and was told it was paid for, I refused and was paying for my own then thought about it and gave some money for some others. Well sat down and before service began a lady behind me and I struck up a small conversation and wouldn't you know the one of the first things out of her mouth with a smile was a free cup of coffee. A small thing but I know money was an issue for this lady. But we forget sometimes that we are a blessing to those around us and it does not have to be a big thing just caring can make someones day. Good story Bighead
