Hi, may name is Carl, and I'm a Valkoholic.  I really am glad I bought this motorcycle (April 2015). It is a 98 Standard.  Black and loaded with chrome. It's no spring chicken, 61,000 miles when I got her.  Some nit-noid problems that I have had to fix.  But I am satisfied that she will be around for many years.

I have seen them around for years, and always admired their look.  Hey, who couldn't like a non-V-Twin.  I also had heard good things about their performance.  It's good to know those stories were true.  I really like this motorcycle.

I've been a member of this group for quite some time.  Reading, lurking, and learning.  Their really is a great deal of info. in these forums.  For that I am appreciative.  I have learned a lot from these forums.  Thought it was time to introduce myself.  I usually do not have time so early in the day to visit.  It is usually around 10:00pm to midnight before I can spend much time online, so I don't know how much I will be able to participate.  Don't know how much activity is happening at that time.

A little background:
I'm a 55y/0 male, married 31 years.  GM at a fastener distributor in Houston, TX.  One son, currently attending the Fire Academy at Blinn College/ TEEX.  I rode when I was a teen.  Neighborhood kids tearing up the streets, until the mom's got together and decided to put an end to that.  Didn't ride again until May of 2014.  My son came home from college and announced that he and a friend were going to take the MSF course.  I asked if I could join them, and they graciously (probably begrudgingly) agreed.  I was too excited to know for sure.  Started with a Shadow Aero 750 (still have it).  Boy did that look big at the time.  I ride almost daily, weather/work schedules permitting.

So anywho, 1-1/2 years later I'm loving my ride.  My son is also on his second bike (traded up).  And after a year of calling us organ donors, etc. my wife is riding a Can-Am Spyder.

Carl,
Welcome to a great forum.  Having said that, the Texas group is pretty active, be sure to check out their board.    There always seems to be some gathering down there somewhere.   Good bunch of riders, good folks.

Be sure to check out the INZANE thread, our national gathering for dragons.   It's a great time with some really good folks who (for the most part) all ride or love Valkyries.    Should you ever come up Kentucky way, give me a shout.   We'll search high and low for some shine for you to take back to Texas, lunch will be on me.   cooldude

Thanks to all for the welcomes.  I have seen the Texas board and am aware of Inzane.  That is why I needed to introduce myself.  I don't want to be a total stranger when I start showing up for some events.

 Welcome Carl,
    Pais from Kent, Ohio.
Your admission of your addiction is the first step to recovery. Problem is, you've purchased the perfect motorcycle! Now you will only fall deeper into your addiction. Couple all of this with the fact you've found your way on to this forum. I wish you the best and good luck.

Spidy J, I promise it really is here...in my garage...it's all black and shinny...I really can see it.   Put your ear to the ground.  I'll start it up.  I'm sure you'll be able to hear that 6 pack rumble.

I'll post a pic or two, as soon as this old brain catches up with the 21st century.
