http://www.marketwatch.com/story/in-2016-a-drivers-license-may-not-be-enough-id-to-board-a-plane-2015-11-05Beginning as soon as 2016, U.S. travelers who want to board a domestic flight may need to bring more than just their driver’s license for identification at the airport. According to the REAL ID Act, which Congress passed in 2005 after a recommendation from the 9/11 Commission in an effort to prevent future terror attacks, certain states’ driver’s licenses do not meet minimum standards for security and identification. Rules for those with “noncompliant” driver’s licenses have been rolling out in phases, beginning with restricted access to federal facilities and nuclear power plants in 2014. The ability to board federally-regulated commercial aircraft is the last phase of the rollout. The Department of Homeland Security has not specified the exact date when it will take effect, instead stating it will be “no sooner than 2016.” When enforced, this phase of the REAL ID Act will mean travelers in states with noncompliant IDs will need alternative documents to board a plane, such as a passport, passport card, U.S. military ID or other documents listed on the Transportation Security Administration’s website.

I don't see a problem here. Nor do I see a problem with voter registration id's or government benefit id's. I personally think it is about time we came up with a national id system to combat all the bullshit that is going on out there. Prof of citizenship or legal statis should be the minimum requirement to get Assistance that the minority of us work our asses off for and don't get.

Minnesota is one of several states with non-complyent driver licenses. Our governor is asking the Federal Goverment for an exetesion. What state officials were blindsided by this? Sue and I may have to carry a Passport to go to Hawaii in February...

I went to the denton license branch to renew my license, then had to wait for it to arrive via mail because they are not allowed to print them there.

Missouri-if I see the color shading correctly-is under a grace period/extension til Jan. 2016. BUT bein as I no longer travel by air-kind of moot fer me. No matter what kind of I D program instituted at State or Federal level-folks will figure out how to beat it or have really good counterfeit I Ds. You only have to look as far as the Russian jet downed in raghead land to see current possibilities. BUT with the JOKE that IS the current administration in deception central a LOT of our "protective" measures our for our own good still make NO sense! Yup-being too cursed harsh again. RIDE SAFE.

it will happen without a shot fired, we will agree just as 911 to give up our freedoms for more supposed security. The controls Bush put in started the trampling on of our rights under the guise of increased security.
If you want additional security and the one offering is the government and they have been less than transparent with finances, not adhering to the constitution of the US and many other atrocities how do you think giving them greater access to your whole life will end?
Why if boarders are secure and police are present do we need a national id card?
With all the tracking going on now have we really reduced crime?
What was wrong with the laws and regs that were in place?
With the new license you have to provide a original birth certificate, ss card no copy, utility bills. This is no different than a passport and what happened to the law that said that ss could not be used as an id?

Really? Bush has been out for 7 years. So they are just now getting around to implementing his ideas? Thats like blaming your former boss for the new boss firing you. Just makes no sense to me. I blame Obama, maybe in 7 or 8 yeas I'll still blame him because he has screw so much up it will take 20 years to fix, and if Hildabeast gets in we are totally f-ed.

I am not for O or Bush or any administration of late but Bush used 911 to pass the Patriot act. It was one of the first real pieces of legislation to take away our rights. There is no good guy bad guy its only king and kingdom and surfs in this new game. O's mission was to get laws passed even if it meant the destruction of his reputation he dosn't give a dam. He was raised to the position he is in to accomplish goals that are not defined by the Constitution nor the US citizen. Democrat or Republican enjoy the show or to put it another way same coin different sides. What is sad is since the 1900's this country by its rulers is being guided to self destruction and financial collapse for the good of those who want control, power and money. WAKE UP. If we all do not stand together we will all face dire consequences by implementation of the pieces of a grand plan one piece at a time, one president at a time. The Campaign Committee of UNITE FOR PEACE provided the following brief rundown on the potential impact of the act on freedoms: Freedom of Association: Government may monitor religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity to assist terror investigations. Freedom of Information: Government has closed once-public immigration hearings, has secretly detained hundreds of people without charges, and has encouraged bureaucrats to resist public records requests. Freedom of Speech: Government may prosecute librarians or keepers of any other records if they tell anyone that the government subpoenaed information related to terror investigations. Right to Legal Representation: Government may monitor federal prison jailhouse conversations between attorneys and clients, and deny lawyers to US citizens accused of crimes. Freedom from Unreasonable Searches: Government may search and seize papers and effects owned by citizens without probable cause to assist terror investigations. Right to a Speedy and Public Trial: Government may jail anyone indefinitely without a trial, including US citizens. Right to Liberty: Anyone may be jailed without being charged or being able to confront witnesses against them. The USA PATRIOT Act granted the FBI -- and, under new information sharing provisions, many other law enforcement and intelligence agencies -- broad access to highly personal medical, financial, mental health, library and student records with only the most minimal judicial oversight. The court must issue a subpoena whenever the FBI states that it is for an investigation to protect against international terrorism. The recipient of the subpoena is prohibited from telling anyone that the FBI has asked for the information. Now the FBI can get the entire database of a credit card company or the records of everyone who has used a certain public library. It can obtain information on everyone registered at a particular hotel, hospital, or university. It does not need to show probable cause that a crime is, has been, or will be committed. Dissent/Free Speech: The USA PATRIOT Act has the very real potential to greatly chill constitutionally protected speech in its overbroad redefinition of "domestic terrorism." The new definition is so vague that it could allow the government to designate lawful advocacy groups, like Greenpeace and Operation Rescue, as terrorist groups and subject them to invasive surveillance, wiretapping, harassment and then criminally penalize them for protected political advocacy. And few Americans realize that at least some of these rules, known technically as Continuity of Government or COG rules, were invoked before 10:00 AM on September 11, 2001. http://www.infowars.com/bush-extends-911-national-emergency-yet-again/GEORGE W. BUSH THE WHITE HOUSE, August 28, 2008. Once again appropriate personnel in Congress should learn and review what those “powers and authorities” are, since almost certainly they include COG (Continuity of Government) rules. In 2007 National Security Presidential Directive 51 (NSPD 51), issued by the White House, also extended for one year the emergency proclaimed in 2001; and it empowered the President to personally ensure "continuity of government." NSPD 51 also contained "classified Continuity Annexes" to "be protected from unauthorized disclosure." Congressman DeFazio twice requested to see these Annexes, the second time in a letter cosigned by House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson and Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Christopher Carney. The White House denied these requests, claiming that the congressmen lacked the requisite clearances. But as I wrote earlier this year, We wonder what has happened to our government but in these emergency powers there are secret provisions made that change hundreds of laws. We cannot know them and so we cannot roll them back. I am sorry guys that you can be mislead to think that one administration is better than another, with the demonstration of how far off the mark we have come in just over 200 years. O has only managed to accomplish more because of the ground work that was laid before I would say the koolaid drinkers are the ones to think that there was innocence in government from the time they established the Federal Reserve forward.

In 1952 Harry Truman said that when you hear someone saying ‘down with socialism,’ they really mean ‘down with progress.’ Truman did not cower at the mention of the word “socialism” In January 5, 1949 President Truman announced his plan and called it the "Fair Deal". Mr Truman was a 33rd Degree Mason, a member of the Skull and Bones society, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Rather Republican or Democrat it is truly a black is white technique and over the past 100 years this bait and switch technique has worked time and time again. He was also elected an Honorary Grand Master of the International Supreme Council, Order of DeMolay. On May 18, 1959, Brother and Former President Truman was presented with a fifty-year award, the only U.S. President to reach that golden anniversary in Freemasonry. The Masonic Presidents Tour - Harry Truman Although I hold the highest civil honor in the world, I have always regarded my rank and title as a Past Grand Master of Masons as the greatest honor that has ever come to me."http://gwm.lunaimaging.com/luna/servlet/detail/GWM~54~54~932~2878:m--President-Harry-S--Truman%3Cbr%3EThiActually O has taken advice from Truman alot of advice if you care to look.
