Something to keep in mind, riding from state to state with a proper CCW at home, but perhaps not full compliance where you are stopped. If the bike is transporting an "illegal firearm (under THAT state law's rules), they could tow your bike from the scene in forfeiture.
I haven't lived in MI for a long time, but have never heard of an instant pay moving violation State Trooper.
Transporting contraband (dope, moonshine, stolen property, prescription drugs with no prescription, an illegal(?)), could have a similar result. Not a bad idea to know what is in your passenger's pockets/luggage too (though forfeiture of your car for their contraband might be a stretch, still). If you were apprehended for felony level fleeing and eluding/reckless/hit and run, I think they could forfeit the vehicle as an instrumentality of the crime.
And I think this would actually be a good idea for multiple offender drunk drivers.
Driving texters, should forfeit their C-phones on the spot.

That's been around for a long time. I got a ticket in Colorado in 1978, trooper said I could come back to court in 2 weeks to fight it or follow him into town to the nearest mailbox. He gave me an envelope and I had to fill out the outside form which included writing down the serial numbers of the bills I put in the envelope. Envelope went into the mailbox and i went on home.

I have had my share of tickets issued to me here, by all three police agency's , and have never been told to pay on the spot. Maybe it happens to out of state folks. It happened to me in Utah or Colorado, I forget which. As far as the original post, it's not surprising to me, although it is somewhat disappointing. As far as receiving a D- from a bunch of lawyers, well let's just say it doesn't add much credence to their argument, and I find it ironic they profit from the very practice they abhor.

A few years back there were 3 of us driving in the middle of nowhere in Mich. and I was leading and saw a State Trooper in the woods looked down and we were doing 60-61 in a 55. I thought we were good she pulled the last bike over and wrote him a ticket. The first 2 bikes were good.

All the lawmakin' is being done by the GOP yes trying to clean up the mess of the last governor, Jennifer Granholm January 1, 2003 to January 1, 2011 Democratic Between 2000 and 2013, Michigan law enforcement agencies collected $127.6 million from such activities. Michigan law enforcement agencies have forfeited at least $270 million since 2001. so now a mind set has too be changed. and the Feds are behind most of it.

All this stuff originated out of the Ricoh laws in order to go after organized crime. Laws were written so that they can use them against ordinary citizens. Newspapers use to write horror stories of what happened to good citizens, not sure if they do or not anymore. Example a fellow contractor always traveled with 30 grand in order to purchase equipment he might come across. Got pulled over for some small infraction. Police said this was drug money and confiscated it all. Even though they could not prosecute him as he had no drugs on him they kept all 30 grand. Another story. Police get a tip that a young adult that lives with his grandparents is dealing dope. They search the house and all they find is a seed or two. They confiscate entire property of Grandpa and Grandma who have no clue about their grandson and are good citizens I use to tell folks about this in the 90s. Laws should have been passed back then reverse the situation but apparently not much has been done. Same old story. Gov't run amock from Repulicrates. Happens all over the country, not just Michigan. Chuck

I've seen that happen before. There are a number of headaches involved in pulling over multiple bikes... including that the radar came back with a single speed, but exactly which bike's speed was it? Just one of the reasons I generally avoid being leader (deer) and sweeper (speeding tickets). My favorite spot in group rides is number 2. However, I take offense at being referred to as number 2.

Actually I think the forfeiture laws are more of a conservative, law and order, mentality than that of the "liberal UN marxist democraps."
