New way to clean carbs. As some of you know I work for cummins as a power generation tech. Had a meeting with one of my suppliers and he had a Seafoam rep with him. The RV tech was changing out a carb and the Seafoam guy asked why we didn't clean it and reuse the carb. I told him they were to small to clean properly and didn't have slow jets just passages in the carb body and we have never been able to clean one even using an ultrasonic cleaner

He went out to his car and came back with a crock pot and 4 cans of Seafoam. Said remove all plastic parts and cook on low for 8 hours then turn off and let set overnight then wash with water and blow out with air.

We did one just for craps and giggles and it cleaned it good as new and the Genset ran perfectly.

policy and epa settings on carbs will not allow us to do this in the shop but would be a last ditch effort for an unavailable carb or during an emergency.
I will use this working on my stuff at home

The crockpot is the key there. Even anti-freeze works well to de-gum and de-varnish in a crockpot.
I used to dunk my model airplane engine cases in it and cook. Only drawback is time as it will eventually darken aluminum.

Dishwasher is the best thing to use when removing cosmoline from a CMP Garand. Cost me more for the replacement dishwasher than the Garand

...As far as re-using the crock pot, How about one of those "oven bags you used for crock pots? They're designed for crock pots, only issue may be chemical reaction between the seafoam and the plastic bag. Might be worth a try...
