Sometimes ya just gotta go...

Winter Springs, FL - Occasionally...

« on: November 29, 2015, 04:34:17 AM »

Ever have a funk come over you? I do from time to time, and this has been one of those. A friend of mine wrote to me the other day, and included in his message was an invitation to join him for some riding, dining, etc. That communication provided me with an opportunity to play around with a couple of notions in my noggin', and the next thing you know, I'm all ready to get out yonder and do what I do!!!

The following (short for me!) is my latest response to him, and it sort of tells the tale...

"Just saw your most recent... I usually do my internet stuff early, early mornings, so not uncommon for me to miss anything coming in after that. Not sure I would have made it over anyway, though... but I do appreciate the thought and invitation.

I'm teetering on the brink of another... something... Not sure what it is, but its characteristics are a preference for solitude, a need for a road trip, a lack of energy or motivation to actually take a road trip... sort of a general malaise, I suppose. These come and go, and they rarely last more than a few days.

I actually loaded up ALI Friday morning, having decided an hour or so before that I would indeed make a spontaneous road trip... Alas, the weather forecast limited my options to east and south of me to avoid rain this weekend or early next week, so I allowed other insignificant issues to sway me towards just remaining home after all... and here I sit...

ALI is still loaded and ready to go. However, a huge blob or two of green on the weather map loom large to the west and north of my location... and I don't like to be out in that stuff unless I have to be. I'm expecting two packages (both items for ALI) to be delivered tomorrow and/or Tuesday anyway, so I reckon I'll just hang around and wait for those... or not...

I apologize for rambling on so, but I enjoy writing, and you've provided me with an excuse. Please never feel obligated to read all of my stuff, but I can tell you it is rather pleasant to tickle the keyboard now and then to sort of clear out the cob webs and stimulate my thinker muscle. In fact, I'm now leaning towards heading out again!!! Talk about motivation!

I stumbled across some rental units down on the coast (Mexico Beach, FL) that have appeal to me... Appears to be a nice place to relax, reflect, perhaps write some, and generally recharge my mental and emotional batteries...

I sometimes do things like that, but I also really enjoy just wandering around, staying wherever I wind up at the end of a day, or stopping early if a place looks interesting. You can do stuff like that when you don't have to consider anyone else, ya know... I think I'll go recheck the weather forecast... Who knows what today might bring!

DDT

P.S. Thank you again for serving up the opportunity for me to write something... It really does help! Hmmm, I may post this, minus your name of course, on the message board. Perhaps there are others in a mild funk who could use a gentle hand to nudge them into action..."

As always, a smooth read Bruce   Carry On !

Here is to hoping your Ali adventures continue for at least as many miles as Ali has now achieved. (500k?)

Oss

But perhaps you should start squirreling away final drives ( a print out of shop talk pages on o rings and final drives)  and spare bearings in various parts of the country as well as keepin one in the saddlebag   You dont always know if a crackerjack valk mechanic will be in town when you need one.

Ah, what a relaxing read. In fact, I relaxed so much I can hardly get out of my chair. cooldude
I too like to write as it relaxes me and I would hope my writings give some pleasure to others as yours surely does.

For me, unfortunately, my age and my location tends to limit my excursions.  The Miata is now in storage and that REALLY limits me.

Good'un Bruce, keep them coming.

That motel we stayed at after Christmas last year in Mexico Beach would be hard to beat for the price they hooked us up with. You could call them and share the fact that you was very instrumental in filling all those rooms last year and perhaps get the same deal. That was a awesome place with the Gulf right out the patio window... Always enjoy the read my friend... Ride On  cooldude

Do you have the relapsing/remitting kind? The various drugs work differently
on different people, but "Copaxone" has done a lot of good for someone
I know...

Man, I can't imagine the stress you must go thru at times like this!

Take a look out the window ...... it's sunny, pretty warm, check computer, green over here green over there.

Heck, I just look out the front window and it's white everywhere ....... no decision to be made Cheesy!
Love living up here ........ stress free!!  2funny

Terry,

Yeah, the stress is almost overwhelming sometimes... Having to decide which direction to ride, whether or not the ride will be an overnighter or just a day ride, indeed, whether it might be a road trip or not... Geez, you just can't imagine... And, this problem persists year round!!! We trudge on, though...

You know, of course, you can hop a flight down here anytime and ride CALI if you want to... I'll introduce you to some of the stress burden I live with!!!  lol  No complaints here, however!!!

Everyone else,

Thanks for your comments, advice, etc. It's gratifying more than you know to see that others tune-in to my ramblings... Life is indeed an exhaustible resource, and it should be consumed wisely with overall 'value' the ultimate goal... I'm doing all I can to maximize my limited supply... Yep, I'm just living large and loving life! (Occasionally soiled britches, notwithstanding...)
